[31DEC14] A little something for the New Year...

Read through the 1.5 tutorial, and it really is amazing. Goes into all of the ETOPS and self-vectoring info I needed. Almost crashed my 77W yesterday (had to make a missed approach at any rate) because of improper autopilot setup on a self-vectored STAR to ILS leg, so having this is much appreciated.

I was hoping that would be appreciated. It's good knowledge to have, even though it's not the most interesting, and not directly related to a "press these buttons to do [this cool thing] in the sim."

Thanks for the tutorial Kyle!

Welcome!

Well...  We chose Roller Power because BAV has been such a positive and vocal supporter of PMDG for a number of years- and we know they will be interested to see the RR powered airplane is the first out of the barn.

All three engine types will be included in the initial release, along with the 400, 400M, 400ER, 400F, 400ERF and 400BCF airplanes.

Wonderfull news  Great to hear you're also doing the -400M, -400ER and -400BCF!

Just curious - will all the great new features and technological advancements of the 747V2  eventually find their way back to older products like the 777 or even the 737NG?

With kind regards, Bogdan Misko.

Sorry to say but why make all the 747 varients? Like the ER version only 6 sold! or the D version. While we dont have the 777-200ER wich sold more than 400! copies.

Why are so many people still interested in the 747 series as a simulation product despite the fact that the 747 is starting to disappear from airline service?   Because people like/love them!   I can assure you even if the -ER was sold as a standalone PMDG would sell a heck of a lot more than six of them.   Even when the 747 disappear for good from airline services worldwide, I will still be trotting the globe in mine.   I have been yearning for an -ER version since I have been flying the old Queen, opens up a few more destinations.

I don't copy the real world operators very often, since I am part of a VA and will do a repaint for our VA first opportunity I get, so I will be doing my own flights and routes with it, but the -ER gives me quite a few options more than I have with the original -400 series.   For instance, to give you some idea, when I load the -400 down with 1/3 of the load and full tanks, I can comfortably do KJFK-FAOR, so a little more payload and the extra distance and I would be able to link KORD (my VA home base) with our other hub (FAOR) easily.   If I want to do it now, I have to use the B77L, which is awesome, but I would love to fly the 744 on this route. The -ER allows me to do this.   And this is but one example!

So I wouldn't look at this from your perspective - look at it from the simming perspective!   As for the B777-200ER, as far as I know, PMDG did not cancel this, but honestly, with the amazing -200LR/-300ER we have now, don't really care that much for the -200ER at this stage.   I know, just my perspective, but I mean we have an excellent variety already, the 747 we have is long overdue for a replacement, and this has been the release that I have been anticipating most since the announcement!

Kind regards

I'm way more interested in the 787 or the 767 than the 777-200ER.  With the 77L/W I can do the overwhelming majority of the 77 routes I like, and anyways I have a soft spot for the 77W over the L.  I really hope the airliner that follows the 747 will be a 787 or 767.

Control F, "DC", nothing found.

Will there ever be an update since that "this is a classic" thread years ago?

I would agree with the 767 statement.   I enjoy flying both the L and W, but I actually fly the LR more as I do quite a bit of freight flying and I am actually, in the last few days off before returning to work for the new year, doing some extra long hauls in the LR, specifically KORD-YSSY-KORD.

Kind regards.

The wing textures, which look like to be mirrored (at least the flaps), are they both the same wing texture? In other words, Will a text or registration be mirrored onto the other wing?

They weren't in the NG and 777 so I doubt it. Why would PMDG limit the painters' abilities?

I honestly dont know and dont expect it, but seeing the same grease dirt on both wings' flaps made me think for a moment..

Ofcourse, and somehow I know this wont be the case. Can't imagine PMDG doing this for whatever reason. I was just wondering.

Understandable. Just reminding everyone at the same time. Just a generic disclaimer I like to add back in from time to time until something releases. I didn't take your comment to be dramatic or anything. A little odd, given historical practice, but a question is a question.

Great pictures, Can't wait to fly this beauty. Also I hope PMDG will work to improve the functionality and the simulation compared to the older version. I know the old one is very good, but not perfect and It has room to improve.

Looking forward for V2.

Yes I agree, they should really stop dodeling with crayons and think about all the arm chair experts out there:)
