January 12, 201511 yr Friends,I just purchased PrecipitFX from FSFX studios, and gave it a run, and oh my goodness, it looks so incredible. It has COMPLETELY revolutionized flying in any kind of adverse or even mild weather. I absolutely recommend it. Includes amazing new rain and snow effects (That also work in P3D V2 to eliminate 'warp tunnels'), 3D wingtip vortices and contrails, engine spray effects for any aircraft, brake smoke for those RTO's, and so much more, especially in their 777 Immersion package for the PMDG T7, which also looks incredible with accurate and realistic vortices from the wingtips, flaps and even the engine nacelles (!), engine nacelle condensation (!!), and a whole host of other effects (!!!). And for just $12.97 for PrecipitFX, or ~$32 for PrecipitFX and 777 Immersion together, you can't go wrong. Please support these amazing developers.http://fsfx.oldprop.com/en/ FS2004 Forever
January 12, 201511 yr I find all the effects apart from the new rain/snow, cause a bit of a pause/stutter in FSX on my system. But I don't regret buying it because as you said, it's pretty cheap, and I love the new rain / snow.
January 14, 201511 yr IIRC this addon won't work in DX10 mode even when using Steve's DX10 Fixer. Anyone knows for sure?
January 14, 201511 yr IIRC this addon won't work in DX10 mode even when using Steve's DX10 Fixer. What a shame if that's true... Best regards, Fritz ESSONO
January 14, 201511 yr It works just fine with steve's dx10 fixer....just have to convert the effects with steve's fixer once installed. Cheers, Jonathan
January 14, 201511 yr Do you actually see anything from the VC or is all of the effect in spot view ? Mark CYYZ
January 14, 201511 yr It works just fine with steve's dx10 fixer....just have to convert the effects with steve's fixer once installed. Ok, that's great! Maybe I'll give it a try then
January 14, 201511 yr Do you actually see anything from the VC or is all of the effect in spot view ? The only effects you see from the VC, are the new rain and snow textures. All of the other effects are applied to the external models.
January 14, 201511 yr Did a search on YouTube trying to find a good comparison video between having this installed and default FSX when it comes to what you see from the v/c but most videos were either P3D or from an external point of view. Anyone knows of a good video where you get to see the effect in FSX from the v/c? Also, does the external effects also work with online traffic when flying on Vatsim? Guess that might come down to what a/c models you use to generate the online traffic, I'm using IVAO's MTL models.
January 14, 201511 yr IIRC this addon won't work in DX10 mode even when using Steve's DX10 Fixer. Anyone knows for sure? works fine on my dx10 setup ATP MEL,CFI,CFII,MEI. Type Ratings B-737, ERJ-190,ERJ-170
January 14, 201511 yr Does the snow fall more gently ? Greg Yes it does 100% but it looks more like static than snow but still a big improvement on default ZORAN
January 14, 201511 yr I already use the features found in the DX10 Scenery Fixer for both slowing the snow down as well as making the default rain slightly more grey and find it much better than default FSX but I take it using this addon makes it even better?
January 14, 201511 yr Does it get rid of the "tunnel" effect when flying through rain / snow. I am guessing it would not because these are probably effects baked into FSX. Mark CYYZ
