Stunning Freeware Scenery Combo

Featured Replies

I recently came across a freeware scenery called FSX Kauai and combined it with FTX Global Freeware Airports Pack 6. I found the combo pretty impressive, here are some screenshots of a flight between Lihue and Barking Sands:

In order to get the two sceneries to play nice you need to disable the following files:

In FSX/AddonScenery/The Hawaiian Islands - Kauai/scenery/

PHBK.bgl

PHBK_CVX.bgl

PHLI.bgl

PHLI_CVX.bgl

In FSX/Orbx/FTX_GLOBAL/FTX_FTXG_AIRPORTS

ADE_FTX_FTXG_PHLI_CVX.bgl

ADE_FTX_FTXG_PHBK_CVX.bgl

Once these files are disabled, the two sceneries lay atop each other very nicely, creating a very comprehensive and accurate version of Kauai, and I think they look quite stunning too. Thank you Richard Sorochak (developer of FSX Kauai) and Neil Hill (developer of the FTX Global freeware Hawaiian airports pack) for your wonderful work on these projects.

In pic # 6, is that a missile being launched at your 1 o'clock?

Very nice find thanks for sharing.

Okay I really like how you are thinking here. I have all of the airport packs installed already, but have yet to visit hawaii. Thanks for the heads up. I am going to try this for sure.

I don't have any photoreal installed, but always knew Hawaii would be the first scenery to lead me down this rabbit hole.

lol, I didn't think of it in the z-dimension, but yeah it sure does, and now I can't stop seeing a missile. At first I was gonna say "that missile is called a Duke Turbine!" Must be a pier of jetty though. Every detail of the coast is intact. Probably the best water mask I've ever seen.

My pleasure for sharing. How top quality projects like this go under the radar (my radar atleast) I have no clue.

Glad I could help. I've always been an autogen guy for cities, but nothing beats a nice mesh/photoreal for natural terrain like Kauai. This Kauai scenery also has some objects placed in important locations. Not a ton of them, but enough to satisfy, especially when used in combo with the airports.

I should mention that ADE_FTX_FTXG_PHBK_CVX.bgl needs to remain enabled for the entire barking sands runway to remain visible. Discovered that last night during testing. I'd edit the original post, but can't anymore.

I also discovered that there are many other airstrips and airports around the island covered with objects by FSX Kauai. You can fly all around and find mesmerizing places to land. Incredible scenery.

Anyone know if this works with FSDT PHLI?

Would this scenery work in P3D v3.3.5 by any chance?

I agree with you Aaron, I have almost everything that ORBX ever introduced. But when coming to Hawaii, I will probably pass the offer. Because this photoreal scenery is so damn good, I don't need anything else. But again, that's just me

Do you know if autogen trees, buildings, objects, night lighting will sit on top of photoreal?
