The one thing I don't do is make criticism about someone who take the time to educate us what's going on in the flightsim world. I appreciate what he does, it has help me understand or learn something new. Thank you Froogle to ur dedication to the flightsim world

The Holy Grail,  in all her Glory

Out of the box it was a disaster and with all the add ons to make it passable simmers have ended up with a slide show

Not here, I have very good performance.

Time to put those old predudices to bed, on modern hardware FSX is very good but it is true that if you run it on hardware from the FS9 era it does not perform all that well.

You say that, but how many people do you see here complaining constantly even after having bought the latest and greatest hardware?

1 or 2 per month.

I do not know who locked this topic but see nothing wrong with the posts so I'm unlocking. Thanks.

That's the good thing about how FSX was coded. It is a platform that can be adapted to whatever hardware you own, and the fact that we're still using it in 2015 shows the strenght of the engine. If people stop getting their panties in a twist each time they can't run all the sliders to the right, problems would be solved.

One could also say that about fs2004 and it doesn't crash!!!!!

That is because the graphics and terrain engine is of a completely different standard. Today the limitations of the FS9 engine means that you gain little from modern hadrware. There are limitations in shadow rendering, no bloom/HDR lighting, low texture resolution, low autogen density, low LOD radius and low mesh resolution - just to mention a few areas.

I have no problem with FSX crashes because I know how configure the sim.

Those that have problems tend to make the most noise, not everyone is running FSX on a dedicated machine, believe it or not there are folks running it on shared family PC's which are not optimally configured for the Sim, those folks will probably have issues.

On todays midrange hardware it runs really well, better now in fact than FS9 due to making use of more cores especially under DX10 which has made a huge difference.

I have what would be considered a mid range PC these days i2500K @ 4.6 along with a GTX570 and I have no performance issues at all, default aircraft yield 70-100 fps, the NGX never drops below 30fps and it's glass smooth.

Still, I doubt I will convince you, each forum tale of woe reinforces the old predudices and the doubters remain blind to the majority of posts that tell of good performance.

This thread started as a highlight to Frooglesim and the videos and comments that he makes. Now it has degenerated into the usual boring "My sim is better than yours c**p!"

No wonder Froogle avoids avsim. With all the "my sim's better than yours na na na nana" and those tiresome people who sit in front of their pcs all day and just because they can programme a simulated fmc tell the world that they know more about flying than real pilots.

I'd love to put them into one of our full motion simulators In Milan. That would bring them down to size I think!

I'd like to see that.

We have to step back to reality here. We, simmers, are not real pilot nor we would be able to operate a plane in case of emergency.  We might be able to program the A/P and let the computer land the plane but we would probably failed at everything else.

Ohh my, now this is a conversation that you don't want to start again! *grabs popcorn*.
