Jarkko,

I love the program and I have benefited many times from your efforts to help me and others. Just like the topic starter I was wondering what was up. The forum was a hotbed of activity for a long time and then fell silent. I am very happy to hear that it isn't dead.

Thanks for the update!

Jarkko, you have to admit getting the news about a future update on this forum and not the main PROATCX one doesn't bode very well albeit good news to have. Thanks for passing it on

Don't find that strange. I reinstalled PROATCX two weeks ago, wanted to ask something on the forum only to find my account permanently banned. No reason.  I contacted the forum admins. But I haven't heard anything back from them. That really does not help to keep your customers.

I fear that I may be banned as well.  I have noted the lack of help or even a response to the most simple of questions in a few posts today.  I really wanted to like this program but the developers appear to have no sense of how to treat their customers.

I just checked and no one has been banned due to "wrong" forum activity. This still doesn't mean that your account hasn't been deleted by accident.

The forum is constantly under spam bot attacks. "Inactive" users get deleted once in a while. Sometimes real users get deleted amongst false spam bots (due to "lack of activity").

... but the developers appear to have ...

Just to mention, that it is "a developer", not "developers". ProATC is a single man operation.

While I'm here. About the flaps question, I found out, that the co-pilots setting the flaps problem should be fixed in version 1444 (or greater). Haven't had the change to test it out myself.

That's good to hear and thanks for the information.  But, as has been noted above, we find these things out here instead of on the ProATC forum.  I understand that it is a one person operation.  Yet, from the perspective of the customer, the lack of manpower is the concern of the organization and the customer still should get the support that they need.   That would be much more understandable if this was freeware - but it is not.  Thanks again for passing that along!

If Spam attacks are such a problem perhaps it might be better all round if ProATC closed their forum and asked Tom for a forum here, seems to work well enough for a lot of good Dev teams

Nice post Jarkko!!!

I thank you for your work---I am a retired Pilot and would volenteer to help but I just do not know enought about computers---It is all I can do to keep my sim up and running!!  I really appreciate your help on the forums and I foe one always try and make my posts as you have requested above---the nasty negative ones upset most forum readers just as much as they upset and deflate you

Thanks and Cheers and all the best and thank again and again for your help to the World Wide flight sim community

Cheers

I fully support these opinions!

I hope we don't let our opinions about the forum distract us from the software itself. I bought the product last year. At the time, development had ground to a halt and there was open warfare between the community and the moderators. It was a very bad situation. The author resurfaced and updated the program, correcting a number of outstanding issues. It is still not perfect, but is, IMO, the best of the bunch. This is no knock against the others. I believe that developing ATC software must be one of the most difficult undertakings in the FS addon universe.

As far as the forum goes, it is a bit messy. But Jarkko, Shells, Torsten and srcooke; respond to issues, test the problems brought to their attention and attempt to offer solutions. It may not be pretty, but I respect that more than some forums, where malfunctioning software is invariably 'your system', 'your addons', blah, blah, blah.

I am not connected in any way with the program, other than as a user. I was as annoyed as anyone when support from the author dried up. But I think it's better now than it was and will continue to improve. I am a committed P3D user. But I can't help thinking that the introduction of FSX:SE has spurred an number of dormant developers to freshen up their product. That's win win win.
