February 25, 201511 yr can you tell me what addons you had installed before you uninstalled espn simconnect. In my clean BASE v2.5.12942 installed just two aircraft: 1. PMDG 777 for P3D 2. One other that I'm not sure I'm allowed to discuss yet. In my clean BASE v2.5.12943 install NO other aircraft ... however ESP and FSX SP2 SimConnects were left on my system from prior installs ... uninstalls don't remove them since they are "shared" components. I'll keep digging to see if I can pin point the exact issue ... since others are running all of them without issue, there must be something unique to my case. Cheers, Rob.

February 25, 201511 yr Rob, for your info, this is what I have on my system (running P3Dv2.5 since it's release): SimConnect v 10.0.61242.0 installed on 24/2/14 SimConnect v 10.0.61259.0 installed on 24/2/14 ESP SimConnect v 1.0.20.0 installed on 13/02/14 So all are there for a year now. I remember that last year I read in a forum the advise to install the Simconnect SP1 and SP2 packages (in \P3Dv2\redist\Interface) to avoid legacy problems, so that is what I did at that time...
February 25, 201511 yr SimConnect v 10.0.61242.0 installed on 24/2/14 SimConnect v 10.0.61259.0 installed on 24/2/14 ESP SimConnect v 1.0.20.0 installed on 13/02/14 It's not possible to tell what versions of SimConnect are installed just by looking at the Windows Control panel list of installed apps. This is because a version of SimConnect could have also been installed as part of a larger package. The only real way of determining what versions of any "side by side assembly" are installed is to search through the system folder: C:\windows\WinSxS for "simconnect.dll" entries. Hover over search result's folder and you will see the version number. Usually they match up with what is shown in the Control panel installed list, but not always. I have five versions installed, the three legacy FSX versions, the ESP version and the FSX-SE version. Does anybody know what add-ons actually use the SimConnect ESP version?
February 25, 201511 yr Just curious, is anyone using SimConnect.cfg and/or SimConnect.XML? If so would be curious as to what entries you have in them. I used these without issue on my old PC (IP address is different and router set DHCP IP reservation for new PC to .130) SimConnect.cfg Located: C:\YourUserName\Rob\Documents AND sometimes needed here: C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Prepar3D v2 Files [simConnect] Protocol=IPv4 Address=192.168.1.130 Port=4506 MaxReceiveSize=4096 DisableNagle=No SimConnect.xml Located: C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2 <?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?> <SimBase.Document Type="SimConnect" version="1,0"> <Descr>SimConnect Server Configuration</Descr> <Filename>SimConnect.xml</Filename> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <SimConnect.Comm> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Protocol>IPv4</Protocol> <Scope>global</Scope> <MaxClients>64</MaxClients> <Address>192.168.1.130</Address> <Port>4506</Port> <MaxRecvSize>4096</MaxRecvSize> <DisableNagle>False</DisableNagle> </SimConnect.Comm> <SimConnect.Comm> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Protocol>IPv4</Protocol> <Scope>local</Scope> <MaxClients>64</MaxClients> <Address>127.0.0.1</Address> <Port>4507</Port> <MaxRecvSize>4096</MaxRecvSize> <DisableNagle>False</DisableNagle> </SimConnect.Comm> </SimBase.Document> Checked the ports, they're available and no conflicts, no blocking local. Cheers, Rob.
February 26, 201511 yr Just curious, is anyone using SimConnect.cfg and/or SimConnect.XML? If so would be curious as to what entries you have in them. I'm using the exact same SimConnect.XML and SimConnect.cfg here on my system (apart from the IP addresses of course). Only difference is that in my SimConnect.cfg I have "DisableNagle=0" instead of "DisableNagle=No". Don't know if that makes a difference. I'm running ASN, FSCaptain and Plan-G over the network. February 26, 201511 yr For those of you with further interest in SimConnect, one can also determine which add on uses what version of SimConnect. This information is embedded in the add on's manifest file, which could be freestanding, but is usually embedded in the exe or dll file. For example, for the A2A library that handles some of the logic for the A2A aircraft, A2A_Service.dll, the manifest file is embedded and looks like this: <assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0"> <trustInfo xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v3"> <security> <requestedPrivileges> <requestedExecutionLevel level="asInvoker" uiAccess="false"></requestedExecutionLevel> </requestedPrivileges> </security> </trustInfo> <dependency> <dependentAssembly> <assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect" version="10.0.61259.0" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="67c7c14424d61b5b"></assemblyIdentity> </dependentAssembly> </dependency> </assembly> One can see that the SimConnect version that is accessed is 10.0.61259 (the FSX SP2 version). If this version of SimConnect is not installed, the addon will not work properly.
February 26, 201511 yr Ditto - same here! Did you try to remvove those? My P3D stutters every 5/10 seconds, even with all autogen etc turned of. It is a bit smoother after fiddling with the texture max load and swap wait timeout values as described by the P3D Learning Centre, but not as fluid as FSX. Tried locking the FPS externally (tried EVGA Precision X and Nvidia Inspector), but still a bit jerky. Doesn't seem to be system load related either - 70-80% on core 1 thread 0 (P3D-main - AF244 or 84 - same result) and next to nothing on the other two (if autogen is off, there is next to nothing for the terrain-threads to do). Did all my testing in the 777 over FTX Norway Oslo (south of ENGM) in poor weather (s. My EVGA GTX 980 Classified 4GB is at 40-60% - with it's fans for the most part turned off..(!) My bet is that the jerkyness is nVidia driver related, but can't prove it. Maybe it's time to take an Acronis Snapshot of the entire system, and go for the moon - I mean - uninstall of the Simconnects;) Hi Kris, No I haven't uninstalled any of them as yet... nerves i guess as things are running ok for me... but am tempted to uninstalled the FSX ones... if it breaks something can always reinstall them form the P3D folder... February 26, 201511 yr Thanks Carlo ... great information Jay ... I'm always learning something new - thank you! nerves i guess as things are running ok for me... but am tempted to uninstalled the FSX ones If you aren't having a problem, I'd recommend leaving them alone. Just to clarify, I'm only having a problem with ESP SC AND FSX SP2 SC together ... FSX SP2 SC alone works perfect. Cheers, Rob.
February 26, 201511 yr If you have nagle enabled in your simconnect.cfg and simconnect.xml, try turning it off by marking "DisableNagle=yes" in simconnect.cfg, and <DisableNagle>True</DisableNagle> for each line in simconnect.xml where it appears. Although the nagle algorithim was originally intended to reduce congestion in TCP/IP networks by reducing the number of packets that need to be sent to transmit small amounts of data, I have read that it can actually increase stuttering in FSX or P3D when running simconnect-enabled add-ons in some cases. Not sure if that is accurate or not, but it would be a quick thing to temporarly switch it off, to see if it helps. February 26, 201511 yr Thanks Jim, more information I didn't know ... I'm trying to locate a stand alone ESP so I can test this out more ... lot easier to install/uninstall ESP and FSX SP2 SC's than do a complete P3D uninstall/re-install ... since it's the combination of ESP and FSX SP2 together that causes the stutters, each alone seems fine. Cheers, Rob.

February 26, 201511 yr Commercial Member I just took a look at my programs inside Control Panel and I see no listing for any simconnect. This is after a fresh 2.5 install. You need to go to the "redist" folder in your P3D installation and install it from there. I installed the FSX SP2 version so I could run Accu-Feel and Plan-G.
