Stutters, Vsync, SimConnect ... a possible source of the problem?

Unless you have some very old legacy products I'd recommend using v10.0.61259.0 exclusively.

Rob, have you found an installer for the ESP Simconnect? I'm reluctant to uninstall it because I don't want to do a complete reinstall of Prepar3d just in case at some point I run into an add-on which needs the ESP Simconnect... Maybe you could ask LM about an independent installer?

Besides the ESP version I have 3 FSX SimConnect versions in the Winsxs folder, how do you remove/deactivate the 2 older ones (v10.0.60905.0 and v10.0.61242.0) ?

As far as I understood, you can simply uninstall the Simconnect versions which you don't need from the Control Panel -> Uninstall applications...

Carlo, thanks but the older FSX SimConnect versions are not listed in the Control Panel - Programs and Features, they are embedded in the FSX uninstaller I guess (which I do not want to run, I like to keep FSX).

I found that changing Win 7 desktop theme to basic stopped the stutters for me.

I'm on drivers 337.88 and v-sync doesn't appear to work when set in sim or in nvidia inspector.

Stu,

If I remember correctly: P3Dv2 + Win7 Aero Off = no possible VSync

On my system they are all listed in the Control Panel... Strange... Simconnect really seems to be a mess...

After reading this topic, I still haven't understand...Is it safe to uninstall the SimConnect and see if it helps as Rob's post suggests? Or we risk to create a mess in our addons..? I use FSUIPC, ASN, GSX, PMDG..etc

Yep, chiming in here for an ESP Simconnect installer. Uninstalled mine and it broke EZDock and my GSX Addon Manager. Really don't want to reinstall P3D :(

Yep. If an add on has stopped working, try installing the legacy SimConnect client for FSX SP2 that is located at :

G:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\redist\Interface\FSX-SP2-XPACK\retail\lib\SimConnect.msi

You may not have any SimConnect client installed at the moment and that may be why your apps are failing.

Instead of destroying your system, do not you think that the fault may be of the hotfix?

I'm no expert, but I uninstalled all 6 of the simconnect listed in my control panel and reboot the system.  I than installed v10.0.61259.0 and all works fine.  I have several a2a aircraft,  the flight 1 750, ASN, iFly737, REX, and Majestic MJC8Q400 installed and all work fine.

Can you search for "simconnect" in "C:\Windows\WinSxS" and see which are still listed there?

If you don't have at least the FSX "XPack" (Acceleration/Sp2) Legacy Simconnect.dll, in your P3D installation, it will break compatibility with several FSX add-ons that otherwise are useable in P3D.

The presence of multiple versions of simconnect in the WinSXS folder should not, in and of itself, cause problems. They are only active if a specific add-on running in conjunction with the sim are linked to one of them. As someone else speculated, a performance issue MIGHT arise if you are running two simconnect-enabled add-ons at the same time, each of which is using a different version.

When P3D is first installed, it creates a folder under the C:\ProgramData folder called "Package Cache". It is my understanding that the installer for the ESP simconnect client can be found in there. Unfortunately, I can't verify this, as I deleted that folder after installing P3D 2.5 to save space, as the Package Cache folders take up about 10GB of hard drive space.

That's correct can be found in the package cache subfolder...
