Dear Richard, 

 

Just installed UTX Europe 2.0 

 

I am at work now and it would be about 10 hours from now until i can help - it is a bit confusing even the pic tutorial that I made looks confusing - I will post something tonight and see if i can dumb it down - no question you have to go into the settings to get different results - if you are lookingg for a lot of white lights just assign the 4th white looking graphic to a slot and you can assign all of your roads to that one light also pick medium or large - small is a bit small - try startign there might help you to figure it out also you want more lights you lower the distance between them in your slider settings in UTX light configurator - post something tonight

How do you get these lighting effects. I have no lights in utx using global in Europe.

How do you get these lighting effects. I have no lights in utx using global in Europe.

 

You have to open the light configuration program - top right hand corner - click light assignments for starters then after that you can start up sim - you will see some lights after close sim the go back in to light tool again and play with the settings on the right you can change factory settings of light color distance between lights which means more lights and a bunch of other settings - back into sim see what you have done - then on the right in toll configuration tool there is two more settings you can play with last or in the beginning I just like doing it in steps - they are called alternate object library and select alternate textures

 

Dont forget to assign a light of your choice and color to everyone of those road entries top left - click description button you will see a red X that needs to be green by picking a light slot then clicking assign or everyone of them - - I setup the light slots then i assign them to the roads - you just have to remember which light slot is what color - this is a lot but play with it for a bit you will see what I mean

Note that when they're initially installed, they are turned OFF. You have to turn them on either through the lighting control interface or your scenery library configuration.

Does the night lighting take a FPS hit? How is it compared to Aerosofts NE?

Not seen a hit but the view distance of the lights is very low at altitude have to figure that out - do not remember it being this low as I had to reinstall P3D and I have seen them farther out just not sure how I got them to do it

Hey guys, so reading a bit it seems that the *general* concensus at least is that the latest UTX is better/nicer than Vector+LC (even though you can really only compare the two in Europe). Is that the case? (Not talking about just USA, where of course they are not comparable, since there ir no ORBX LC for the US yet).

 

Also if so, is the general opinion also that FTX Global is currently the best way to go for textures, and that FTXG+UTX is the best you could get atm?

 

Besides opinions and tastes, it's sad that we can't really get the whole world with any of these, as ORBX gives us vector data for the whole world, but LC for only 1 region, and UTX gives us both but only for a few regions as well :( (considering the older UTX prods are not better than the ORBX ones).

UTX is not better/nicer than Vector+LC it different - I like both of them

 

Global is the best choice imo for textures

 

UTX does not have world wide either at least not yet in P3D - hard tosay whats best for you myself I buy them both and use them both

Thanks for the input. I was giving vector a go, but first site I try is KSEA and I'm having issues at the airport... No addons, vanilla just global and vector. If I disable the airport in vector tool, incorrect textures are everywhere (tress houses roads, etc) but if I leave it enabled, the whole airport seems to be a little sunk into the ground (a look straight back from your starting point shows clearly a large house half in the air...). I guess I will make a post for this to see if anyone knows or can share a screenshot of the top-down view.

I held off on the UTX USA after I saw your post a while back talking about how you'd pulled the trigger rather than waiting for ORBX OpenLC USA. I've only just found this thread stating that it's now fully compatible with P3D 2.5 so now I'm really intrigued!

 

I run Orbx Global/Vector and OpenLC Europe, I've just seen that UTX USA is 'only' 30 Dollars, I expected it to be way more to be honest! Would you really recommend it to someone running ORBX Global/Vector, any issues I should be aware of?

I've only just found this thread stating that it's now fully compatible with P3D 2.5 so now I'm really intrigued!

 

I run Orbx Global/Vector and OpenLC Europe, I've just seen that UTX USA is 'only' 30 Dollars, I expected it to be way more to be honest! Would you really recommend it to someone running ORBX Global/Vector, any issues I should be aware of?

Hi Brother - runs perfect in P3D - until LC and Vector come out from Orbx I will be using UTX V2 US and problem give me a ring - just built my new system - looking good - time to load up P3D now

 

Running 4790K Devils Canyon - Titan X - Maximus VII Formula - 4.6 ghz OC on water - man this thing rocks and a big thanks to Rob to help sort some things out
