Fltplan Go app for iPad - Way Cool!

If you have installed all of the SimConnect versions then there is nothing more needed there.

Maybe your router or firewall is blocking the connection.  Other than that I'm out of ideas as it works for me in FSX and P3D while using an Android tablet or an iPad2.

Thanks Scott.  Duane is what everyone calls me, you are welcome to as well.

Thanks for that, I'll search for that 4th simconnect when I get home.  I do know that once I tried the right click, run as admin but I'll change it in the properties to see if that tidies things up.

I really appreciate  your help on this, I'd love to get this bugger workin!!

Hi Duane,

Thanks - sounds good - sir...

FltPlan Go really is a nice feature to increase the realism of flight sim... I'm a real world pilot as well and almost everyone is flying with an iPad's these days with similar features in the cockpit - - - MOST companies charge for the service in the neighborhood of $200.00 a year... I guess FltPlan makes enough money in advertising and has always been free... We've come such a long way since the days before moving map technology... We'll get you there as the software has been proven to work...

Scott

Most serious simmers have a GTN 750 and a weather program. Whist the app is nice and its free , I cant see a use for it for myself

ZORAN

I'm a real world pilot as well, but rarely fly.  I was debating picking up an ipad mini and getting foreflight but that's a lot of $$$.   I really want to get this working!!!

I do have the flight1 GTN 750 but with aircraft that only have one screen, it sure is nice to be able to pull up your plates on a separate screen to brief an approach, or be able to look at two things at once.

There are tons of features when using FSX/P3D, FlightPlan.com (website), and FltPlanGo that a weather program and GTN do not provide.  I use FSGRW for my weather engine and the combination of the two work well with each other.  For instance your Fltplan Go app's Map not only shows your route. You can display real time weather including radar, fronts and pressure areas, wind barbs specific to your flight plan altitude, etc. And those are now real wind barbs.  Much better than the colored arrows that you see in the images in the original post in this topic.  You may wish to go back to the start of this topic and look at the images again.

Other examples" You can go into Navlog Options and beyond looking at procedures plates, you can check the current metar for your departure and destination airports. Helps you predict which runway will be active when you arrive and current barometric pressure long before you can pick up ATIS.

You can chose to display V and J airways on the map page, see your route, your current position, and the path you have taken. You can zoom in on the map to see the nav points and airways more clearly.  You can scroll the map ahead to look at upcoming weather.  And since you have menu access to FltPlan.com in the App, you can go to the site, edit the flight plan to reflect any changes, such as a change in STAR or approach, save the modified plan, then refresh you list of navlogs in the app and the modified plan is then there to use.  Real slick!

You can build checklists and save them, then use them interactively in the cockpit.

And the screen size, color, and resolution are very realistic vs VC cockpit gauges.

I really want to get this working!!!

Man I really wish I knew what to do to help you!

Hi Duane,

Yeah - I've thought about the mini but my eyes have enough trouble with the full sized iPad - I couldn't imagine trying to read plates in a smaller format under less than ideal circumstances... I've used ForeFlight and it is quite an amazing package and an excellent company - lately I prefer the Garmin Pilot application just due to some features and personal preference...

Hi Zoran,

Many - serious simmers - like to replicate real wold conditions and GTN's still aren't very common - I've yet to see one in real life... I fly with a GNS430W while using my iPad for plates and situational awareness in the cockpit - a condition I like to replicate in Flight Sim...

Scott,

Off topic I suppose but does Garmin Pilot connect to P3D?

Hi Duane,

Hah - I wish... When I used ForeFlight a couple years ago - there was a third party app that would allow you to connect by emulating a GPS connection - I think ForeFlight might offer native connections now but I'm not sure... Unfortunately - I haven't found any means to connect Garmin Pilot yet... It's the one I am paying for so I'd prefer to use that to enhance familiarity...

The only thing I found for garmin pilot was a very spendy cable.  I'm not interested at all in that route.

Yeah.. that would never work for me...

ALT-TAB crashes my FSX...

Well, finally got this sucker working.  Turns out, when Fltplan can't fix it, avsim can.  I was missing 1 version of simmconnect.  Apparently the one that mattered.  I went through each simconnect version and ran them again.  I guess I missed one way back when.  After running all version of simconnect I found in P3D I tried it again, no go.  Uninstalled it, reinstalled it and VIOLA!!   It works!!!

Thank you all so much for helping!!!  I would not have thought that I missed one little simconnect version.

Hi Duane,

Really nice to hear - glad it all worked out for you - now log some flight time !

: )
