Hmmm....Birdseye View, Too good to be true?

I just watched the Grand Canyon video, and I was amazed!!! Of course the change from the default was mad more dramatic by the sunset which set shadows over it while you could see the lit areas on the other side. I'm curious to know what it would look like without any other enhancements.Jeff

conerning price point: IF the product delivers as promised $50 seems okay for all FIVE seasons to me. But, being at the high end, i would be frustrated if I was at all disappointed, including any FPS hit. I'm usualy tolerant of some disappointment for add ons below $20, but set a really high bar for stuff that breaks the $45 mark. I usually need some sort of trial (not a video demo). Also, I find the Flight1 wrapper pretty decent too.Not trying to be critical, just helpful. Looking forward to it.

This is speculation on my part at this point, but I believe the 30 day Flight1 guarantee would apply.Another thought I had- you can just buy one set and see how it goes. There is no reason to purchase them all at one time. They are going to be released one package at a time every few months anyway. I have no idea if there is a demo planned, but I'll pass it on. Who doens't like demos?Tony=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]BEVBetaSig.jpg

One has to wonder about the product when the website says "Sorry, this site is temporarily unavailable.(Daily Bandwidth Limit Exceeded)". Success often requires a little capital up-front.Doug

I think they need to research their hosts and not go with the cheapies. What happens when people buy this, and can't download because of bandwidth issues?Looks like they bought the $7.77 a month deal which limits 300gb a month, but maybe it also limits to 10gb a day. And it appears that is the only plan they have.ooops.....Grab My FREEWARE Voice recognition Profiles here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a][a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=60740]FSD Avanti Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]

Ouch! how true. hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Looks great. Same as FScene. Problem is expense. I cant afford to spend the kind of money a complete global set would cost. I know efforts have been made towards bundling and a buy 4, get one free deal, but still its a bundle of money for this. I'd love to have it, but wifey would cut my throat!Eric

Hi guys,If this is indeed a bandwidth problem and not a glitch, then it does look bad. For that matter, I acknowledge even a glitch looks bad.No excuses other than we are learning as we go as to what demand will be. Perhaps too many 131mb video downloads today. The overall texture packages should be between 10-20 meg each, and I believe it will be Flight1's servers handling the load.Interest has been great and we appreciate that. Hopefully it will get sorted out soon. The BEV team wants to earn your trust and business. Tony=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]BEVBetaSig.jpg

Hi Eric,I understand. As the packages will be released over time, you can spend $12 here, and $12 there. ;) Some folks may choose just a few packages, based on where they fly and what seasons they like. I never purchased any of the other existing packages for the very reasons you give, including the wife. The BEV packages will be less than what is available now, but even the BEV packages will add up if you get them all.Tony=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]BEVBetaSig.jpg

Sonar, that's a bit harsh :(BirdsEyeView is in its fledgling stage and we're not a multi-million dollar multinational software company. Yeah, we goofed up choosing a 10/GB day bandwidth plan, but it's a good problem to have (albiet an embarrasing one) - we're getting thousands upon thousands of hits per day on the site, and it's only been up for less than a week.Unfortunately the support team tells us it won't be until midnight tonight until we get our bandwidth back. Meantime we are looking at a new host with gazillion GB's of bandwidth :)

Because there are still many freeloaders like you, they don't have the finances to have massive server capabilities because the payware market is very small. You just can't wait to jump on the payware hating bandwagon, can you?

Thanks for the defense, but in Joe's defense, he has been pretty open minded and we do value everyone's input. And yes, as we are going to ask everyone to pony up for the new textures, he has some valid observations. Harsh but valid. I'v been around Avsim a long time, and I am well aware of Joe's thoughts on payware. As he has said in the past, he has made some purchases as well.I'm hoping to keep this thread open and we appreciate Avsim allowing us to talk about BEV here. So please keep it civil. Now back to the program.=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]BEVBetaSig.jpg

>Because there are still many freeloaders like you, they don't>have the finances to have massive server capabilities because>the payware market is very small. You just can't wait to jump>on the payware hating bandwagon, can you?Alex, thanks for your supporting comments, but the issue was not really money to be honest. We basically goofed by putting up 545MB worth of videos without doing the download calcs. Since the site has been swamped with hits and downloads it's exceeded the plan. We have plenty of funding to move to a new hosts, so it's no biggie, just a trifle embarrasing, grrrr!

Hi Koorby,Not real harsh, you folks chose a $7.77 a month account. You should choose a host that allows bandwidth but charges if you go over, as long as you know what those charges are in advance. Here is a solution you can use though, and it won't cost you a dime. It's probably the video downloads that are causing your overload. You may want to encourage your beta testers to find their own hosts for the videos. Here are some suggestions for sites that allow them. Then you can link to them, and problem solved.Free Hosting of Videohttp://www.ibiblio.org/Our Media. I guess that is the best you can do when you only offer ATTACKS AND NO SOLUTIONS.And I am not jumping on some False alleged proverbial payware hating bandwagon either.I offered several compliments regarding this product, as well as some suggestions prior to their release. And if the payware market is so small as you suggest, why are servers being overloaded here, at PMDG, and now Birdseye? Very interesting observation you offered there. :-lol :-lol :-lolBut I see you were simply out for a Troll and have nothing to offer to the situation, so enjoy your Troll. :-lol :-lol :-lolSonar5Grab My FREEWARE Voice recognition Profiles here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a][a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=60740]FSD Avanti Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]
