FS9: DC-6 in her Habitat

Featured Replies

With the DC-6 in Alaska, just to prove that I made the journey with the old lady.

She obviously feels well between her mates:

I changed then towards a smaller DC-6 (in state of customizing the paint) and explored Alaska.

Awesome and where did you get Evert AI traffic?

Many thanks guys for your kind comments!

Aharon, I guess you use a newer sim, so I'm not sure if the AI traffic works for you. Nevertheless I'll provide the source.

1. Download Tom Gibsons DC-6B from http://www.calclassic.com/AIAircraft.htm.

Choose AI File two. Install it into a temporary folder or into a sandbox. Use the HQ model for the DC-6B (you'll find a file named "High Quality readme.txt" inside the A/C folder that explains how to do that). It uses repaints for the flyable model.

2. Download all Everts DC-6B repaints from

http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=everts_air_dc6_pack_v1.zip&CatID=fs2004acrp&Go=Search

and install them to the DC-6B AI model. I'm not sure if all these planes are still active.

3. The newest AI flight plan for Everts I found was one for 2010. Not very up to date, it contains only eight DC-6Bs. But better than nothing.

http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=everts_su10.zip&CatID=root&Go=Search

If you don't mind having some "ancient" AI, the same works for NAC and Buffalo, too. Not to forget some museal and charter planes like Red Bull or Namibia Commercial Airways.

I hope this helps. Have fun!

Great shots of Alaska.

“We sleep safe in our beds because rough men stand ready in the day and night to visit violence on those who would do us harm”.

Harald, just letting you know, there is a new AI DC-6/C-118 here in the library. It was made by Jake Burrus and Michael Pearson. The file name is jmai_dc6_traffic.zip.

The model includes a whole bunch of paints (including Everts)

Excellent screenies, Harald. And good to see that you made it across the pond successfully

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds

My specs: AMD Radeon RX6700XT, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, 34" monitor, screen resolution: 2560x1080

GeyerH,

Thanks for tips.  I will try to figure out   LOL

Regards,

Aharon

Thanks Ce_Zeta, Pugilist2 and Bernd (did you really doubt? ).

Joseph, thanks for the info. A new AI DC-6? Crazy, must check. Mike Pearsons AI MiG-fighter play a significant role in my sim...

Harald, Mike Pearson and Jake Burrus also made new AI planes of the DC-4/C-54 (jmai_dc4_traffic.zip) and a DC-7 (jmai_dc7_traffic.zip).
