Gawd, this is funny.  I have P3D v2.4 full open....every slider, full to the right.  I run all my sims that way. Nothing was changed from pre (Nick suggestions) FPS of a max of 33 FPS, to easily climbing into the high 70's for most flights (first use of post install suggestions and tips)...and in very dense, (around downtown Detroit) with all ORBX and UTX products in place, now get 45 FPS at the standard mid-point. drops to 33, highs to 75, but mostly runs near 45 FPS, in the worst draw on the sim.

Yes...wow...and to suggest that some users are uh..innocent neophytes, that can not figure out that by diminishing settings, will bring up FPS, is well...rather uh...pulling it long?!?!?

My pics...and my 'wow' claims, were, and always are...with the sim features sets...not dummied down...apples to apples.  Without Nick's recommendations for P3D usage (read upon that thread, yesterday by myself)...for months...since owning P3D...my constant ceiling with the sim full out, was indeed 30-33 FPS. All my prior (you can view them...) screengrabs only show this.  Now...yawn....40-50-60-70 FPS's at any time....

If I lock down the sim, of which I tried just to see...and kept at 33 FPS...P3D v2.4 full out, never went below that threshold, post Nick suggestions, yesterday and on, forward in usage.

So... yea...yes....WOW...let me state that again, for those that didn't hear me..."WOW"....wow......

After I gave the P3D NVI profile the boot and deleted it...after I added what .cfg suggestions NicK stated, after I added in (for H.T. running) an affinity mask that I run with FSX...wow...yes....I sing the wow song.

Did I say, "wow'?!?   Well then...I stand behind that single word, post install and modify suggestions....

What aircraft are you getting these numbers with because it's not the PMDG 737.   With AI traffic on and most of Nick's tweaks the FPS in cockpit sits in low 20's and locks at 30 on the exterior on my rig.    I would love to have 75 FPS or even 45ish while in the cockpit at a busy payware airport in the PMDG aircraft.  :)   What is your system specs?     I still don't think I am getting proper performance for an i7 3930k @4.8ghz with a GTX 980.

With all my Carenado G.A. and business jets, not stock and/or 3rD party free/donationware..., and I don't fly Big Iron in P3D, only FS9,....so I can't shoot a grab with a heavy for you sorry..but still, all my custom planes are giving me these figures now.  Before, they all did the max 33 FPS ceiling thing on my system. I could never go higher than that, no matter If I stood on my head. This post-Nick P3D v2.4.NickN is like getting a new system, and sim at the same time....

I posted pics right away (with the FPS counter displayed, my standard M.O.) two days ago on this thread, while my initial jaw drop was still happening, with the Carenado C377.

Look up my profile and then System...it's all there...and if that is not enough, post me, and will give further system details, such as BIOS, RAM timing (my tweaks, etc) settings, the manufacturers behind them, etc, etc. The short drop, is a Dell XPX 730x with 12 GB's (system max) of High Speed RAM, running at 1600MHz, fast off-set, the CPU is a quite powerful 4 core i7-975 Extreme (fully open) running at 4.2 GHz's in H.T. mode, (stock Dell XPX air-cooler) all sitting on a custom Asus (for Dell's XPX 730x series ) Mobo,  driving an EVGA Signature Plus GTX680 2GB vid card. (Driver Suite: nVidia 337.88 WHQL)

The Dell XPX 730x Tower Series, was Dell's premier Designer Gamer series, before they bought out Alienware, in late 2009/2010, and dropped their own XPX series to push Alienware. Personally, I think it was the worst mistake that Dell has ever made. But, that is a personal viewpoint. The case and chassis are built like tanks, sports five server-grade 5 1/4 inch chassis fans, that are totally independent speed programmable by the owner... the entire system is totally component upgrade-able, and they don't come up on the market much at all. The Fall of 2009, was the last chance to buy one of these beauts, new.  Again, in hindsight, I think Dell really shot themselves in the foot. This series was killer performance and product component quality, then, and even to this very day.

Hope this helps in the comparison A/B.  My system was built, and shipped in 2009, and other than what you see above, no further hardware mods were involved between my pre 33 FPS, and my now post 45-77 FPS P3D running.

One thing is a constant though...I have always used H.T. technology...getting 8 virtual cores, from 4 physical. I have always had great performance, and obviously...running under H.T. didn't kill off performance...it was my set-up of P3D v2.4 (using NVI profile settings up and beyond what settings are in P3D and the native nVidia driver screen) that was killing off over a 120 percent performance potential....33 FPS----->.82 FPS (my highest peak, and 77-78 FPS sustained peak seen, since applying Nick N's recommendations to the .cfg file, and dumping NVI's P3D profile (deleting it from NVI)  I still use NVI for FS9 and FSX-boxed, and even dumped it for XPX.41 with a result of 5 increased FPS on that platform.  All in all..Nick deserves a beer or three..and I will remember that...lol.  Actually, I'm a customer of his, by means of having purchased GEX products in the past...so...he's gotten a 'few beers' off me, already, now, lol  :P

I shot some initial post-Nick pics that I think are on page 2 or 3 of this thread clearly showing the detail I have in auto (max slider settings) and the FPS box showing my new FPS obtainment of 77 FPS.  For me...a sim-epiphany and mind blower. I am quite ecstatic... :drinks:, as you can imagine!

Hi David...how are you?!!?!?

I just took off out of Vermont's mountain regions (beautiful..winter scene) and just wanted to show the folks, my documented P3D v2.4.NickN fabulous FPS performance.  I even had to re-learn how to control the aircraft(s)...and not only that...but can you achieve actual stutter-free animation with ANY P3D(x) version?  YOU BET YOUR LIFE, YOU CAN!!!!!----get a sustaining 45----and skies-the-limit FPS performance...and you will float like a butterfly, and FPS-sting, like a bee (smile!)...P3D CAN achieve this...but you need to get a no less than 45 or greater FPS flight envelope in system performance.

Sorry for the bold..but we have all, ever since P3D came out...been searching for a collective solution to stutter...and basically folks...if the lowest FPS threshold is 45 FPS, sustained..or greater,.... THAT will give you what you finally want...   Here are the P3D v2.4.NickN latest shots with the Carenado R22 (lovely plane, folks..lovely plane...) and what my system is kicking out now...and what is that you ask....well....--------------->now basically, it floats like a butterfly...and stings like a bee, LOLOLOL.   Read Nick's offerings and suggestions...and go get a piece of this pie...come up here with me...the weather is just wonderful...  Oh BTW...all the usual ORBX stuff (Global, regions, airports,HD Trees, blah, blah), with exclusive UTX products, and ASN last update for v2.4, etc.......got rid of ORBX Vector after the not-impressed and long awaited, v1.30 (yeah...don't ask....don't...)  Anyway...here are the pics from this morning...and yeah..I have already had a few coffee's...can ya tell?  :P

Here's my dawn departure from a airstrip in Vermont...gorgeous area to fly in....I just now need to see skiers!

Folks...I just had to highlight the following shot...I have never, ever, experienced I guess..the 'sensation', of floating, and being sustained upon air mass...ever, since flight simming in 1984...never...until today that is.  In this following shot...I am actually 'floating' upon the air currents...the wings of the plane so ever slightly moving the aircraft up a few feet, or down...upon the wind currents...and the animation smoothness (and no visual impact of stutter up/down, left/right).... is to die for....smooth as silk at this captured FPS reading.  OMG!  I guess, that I have finally truly, arrived at simulating flight....and it is such a wonderful experience today, in front of my monitor...flying this flight over Vermont...wow....wow....

I am so happy and satisfied this morning...it is almost bringing tears to my eyes...to float..FINALLY...float upon simulated air-mass...wow.....  This folks, is what flight simming was always meant to be....to feel lighter than air...

Over, 'n out....

Hi Mitch :--)

Do you have any shadow enabled?

Just out of curiosity, could you please post a screen of your settings?

I barely believe that one can both get this excellent framerate AND use any genuine P3D eye-candy at all.

Thanks!

Thank you very much Mitch but I don't understand, your settings are much higher than Nick's V3 recommendations!
With my rig ([email protected] +980ti) I can't get these results for sure with autogen maxed out, cloud draw distance at 100, airline and road traffic, shadows etc...
No way, even with zero addons.
Or my flying experience will look like a slideshow.
