You previously told us that Flight School would have two planes. Now it appears that there will be a third aircraft available. Can we expect that over time additional aircraft, and other DLC such as scenery, will also become available for Flight School?

There are currently no plans to release DLC for DTG Flight School. We just didn't mention the Diamond DA42. We wanted to hold back the news of it for the pre-order.

So Martin, is the pre release video of Flight School All In Game footage?

No it is not. If you look at the video, it says at the start that it is not in game footage.

- Martin

Agreed. I felt really uneasy when I read this. Is DT unable to produce a convincing in-game video?

Kind regards, Michael.

And there it is!

I would not preorder anything until i know Exactly what i am getting!

Ok so why would you not use in game footage?

Sorry France89, and sorry ErichB, didn't mean to try and start an argument.

I'd like to ask whether the voice of the instructor in that video is representative of the voice of the instructor in Flight School, or even if there will be one?

I'd like to ask if the DA42 is the final add-on for Flight School or if its possible we'll get more?

I'm also slightly concerned about what seems like a relatively small number of lessons in Flight School (given the title of the product).

Thanks :)

Hi Martin

You said some time ago that some of the world will be updated to some extent. Will airports known for being dangerous to land, such as Madeira, being updated something you're planning in the future?

Hi Martin

Will the DA42 be a partnership with Carenado/Alabeo or is it a completely different product?

If not, will it have the glass cockpit?

Thanks :)

Hi Martin

Is the Super Cub used for the LAPL, the Cherokee for the PPL, and the DA42 for night flying lessons or is it not that simple?

Also, does night flying imply basic IFR lessons?

Thanks.

edit: Ah, after a quick google, it looks like Night Flying is a rating that you can add to your PPL in the real world.

Night flying in that context has similar requirements to VFR but at night time. (in the UK by the look of it).

So, this could be an example of the additional Ratings that we'll hopefully be able to add later, which I think Stephen mentioned on YouTube as hopefully coming to the full Flight Simulator eventually.  If that is the case then it could be quite fun.

And speculating further, perhaps each future rating will be a DLC component with a plane and a rating to try for.

Thanks again.

Please, guys let this thread be a Q&A. Nobody can keep track on this thread if you misuse it as discussion.

Question to Martin:

What is the bonus content coming along the DA42?

What is the bonus content coming along the DA42?

The bonus content includes lessons and missions featuring the Diamond DA42 focusing on multi-engine training.

Okay, Heimi I thought I had been asking questions, but here goes.

Question to Martin:

Can you tell us anything about the flight school airfields used in Flight School?

The video with you in it seems to suggest that the UK flight school airfield is EGLM.

Can you confirm this?

Any chance of knowing which airfield will be the US one for the flight school there?

Either way, are you able to expand on anything about the airfields used for the flight school bases?

Have they been enhanced over other airfields?

Will they have specific VFR VRPs added or does the scenery have enough in it anyway?

Thanks very much.

Couple of questions, both of which have been touched on but perhaps not quite so specific.

Will Flight School have cockpit shadows?

Will Flight School expand the tutorials after release?

In this case I'm thinking of navigation courses, how to use navigation radios properly, that sort of thing.

Thank you.

Brent.

Christopher Low -

Wouldn't basic flying tutorials include navigation lessons?

Not sure, they're providing night lessons so hopefully, yes, I'd just like clarification.

Yeah, I was a bit concerned to not see any cockpit shadows. Has the lighting engine been changed?

Sorry if I've missed this topic earlier, but it's not on the Steam pre-order page. What controls will be supported in Flight School?

I see a card showing gamepad controls in that recent video, and naturally that's going to be the entry point for people who have never tried a flight sim. What about other controls like those below, since some people who have never flown a civilian sim will already have these for space games like Elite and combat sims:

* Dual joystick/throttle HOTAS sets like Thrustmaster Warthog

* Rudder pedals

* TrackIR or similar head tracking

In a recent video Stephen Hood gave on youtube he said he uses the kind of stuff that you list on his desk at work for Flight School (yoke, pedals, trim wheel, quadrant etc.)

TrackIR is the one I'm wondering about.

I hope Martin's still around but he doesn't seem to have been on the thread recently.

(Martin, will TrackIR be supported?  And please confirm that yokes, pedals etc. will be, thanks)
