the sim is very smooth (wish i could say the same for UI and mouse movement, but everything has a price)

I'm using an LG 40" display and I had the same issues with mouse and undocked windows.  What fixed it for me was to ensure that the HDMI input (device name) was labeled as PC and not simply HDMI 1.  It made a world of difference for me.

Having read through the entire post a second time I can see that I am not experiencing the same great results in P3D v3.2 as most of you are.  I have an i7 4790K overclocked to 4.6GHz HT is on with the AM=116.  I followed Steve's post's and am now trying the locked NI frame's at 30 FPS with verticle sync on and TB checked but the frames dip down to the high teens and there is some jerkiness to the sim.

I read that I should move the scenery sliders, how far back are some of you going?  What other display settings are being adjusted to get rock solid frames locked at 30 FPS?

Thanks,

Robert

Video driver?

I use only 1 display and run P3D in windowed mode with the pseudo full screen.  I ran FSX the same way which improved FPS and it has carried over to P3D as a habit.  I did try it in full screen mode and didn't notice any difference.

Video driver?

361.91, good idea, haven't thought to check for new drivers.

Try it and see.

Good idea. With four core no HT, AM=14 is easy since we can just run addon as is. The addon will find the first core and will put its major activity there. But if you got time try both.

So from what I can tell.....testing flying the Canarsie Climb out of FDST KFJK....both methods have eliminated my pauses...I did notice a very slight stutter using the Lasso method but I think there is a process that I missed on core 0.  The lasso method did seem to yield better framerates so I think that is the way I will go.

Yes, that's what I've been wondering for a long time, too.  It's hard to compare apples to apples without knowing that information.  And, of course, the area of flight and type of aircraft, but, at least the "settings" part is relatively easy to set to be equal to someone else when comparing.

FYI:  In the default Baron in clear weather 4,000 ft. above downtown Seattle in level flight I'm getting about 48FPS from VC view.  This is with no VSync or limiting (I only run like this for FPS tests).  I have Scenery Complexity=Very Dense, Vegetation Autogen=Normal, Building Autogen=Dense, Water Detail=Medium, Level of Detail Density=Ultra, No HDR, Volumetric Fog=ON, and Special Effects=Medium.  I'm using ORBX Global, Vector, Open LC Europe, PNW region and My Traffic 6.0a set at Airlines=10, GA=5, Airport Vehicles=Low, Texture Resolution in Scenery=7cm, Texture Resolution in Graphics=High, and 2xSGSS in NI .  Running with 3770K at 4.4GHz., HT on, AM=116, GPU= 980Ti, 50" 4K Samsung in Fullscreen mode, Refresh=60 Hz. .

When normally flying I have VSync on in P3D and "3D Application Controlled" in NCP, triple buffering, and locked at 27FPS with P3D slider (I use 27 because I needed that when circling in a steep bank around the Empire State Building at 3,000 ft. .  I could probably raise that to 30 for most flying) .  With those settings I'm getting what I would call very smooth performance with very slight stutter occasionlly in steep turns mostly over urban areas .

Hope this helps someone.

As an addendum to my previous post (too late to edit):  That frame rate of 48FPS was good down to at least 1,400 ft.  At 1,000 ft. flyng level by the city over the water and looking out the left window the frames dropped to about 40.

I'l try AM=14 when I get home and we'll see what's up.

Hi Steve-

Gave this a try last night (AM=14) and Core0 is at 100% along with Core1.

Did something change with 3.2 where AMs no longer work?

Thanks,

Mark

No.

Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

Hmmmm....

Any ideas why? I would assume that Core0 would display significantly less activity.

I'm running no addons while doing this test.

Cfg entry is as follows...

[JobScheduler]

AffinityMask=14

Thanks,

Mark

Deepen your investigation. Try another AM, eg 12. Reason and deduce.

Check out your anti-virus too, stuff like that!

Hi Steve-

Got it working.

Much better perf with a clean cfg and no HT.

I do have 2x SGSS enabled which smooths things out a bit.

Thanks!

Mark
