October 23, 200520 yr Hey, if you got a quorum, couldn't London, South East, even UK simmers occasionally meet for a beer in town?I hate missing out on stuff...
October 23, 200520 yr Hi,It was great to meet you all last night, let's do it again soon!:-beerchug regardsPaul Paul Dumke
October 23, 200520 yr I second that; great evening even though I had to contend with engineering works on rail and tube to get to the pub.Looking forward to meeting everyone again before too long.John John Hewson
October 23, 200520 yr Hello guys! ... I concur ...I really enjoyed the get together.a few notes.1: The greatest comment of the evening IMHO was from Paul ND who said "He just wanted to meet another simmer" I remember well wondering if I the only FS nut out there ...and if I wasn't ..where are they!?"2: More useful and informative than an "FS Show" IMHO as you get a chance to really chat and meet other simmers in an informal enviroment ( more so than a Show)3: I don't wan't to say it was a poor turn out for "London simmer's"but I would really like to encourage more simmers to go to these meet's if the opportunity arises!4: Tom is one cool dude! ...I would like to thank him publicly for the meet and ofcourse AVSIM!!!! :-hah5: Matt Johnson works just around the corner from where I live! ...there you go ...#### small world! ...you will be surprised who you will meet! ;)6: I would certainly go to another London simmers meet ....let's try the Queens Arms in the Mews this time :-lol 7: Descend descend .......great handle ..love it!8: Those who did not come missed out on the chance to meet FS's best kept secret! ...I'll say no more! :(9: I was wondering how we would recognise each other ...I was a little disconcerted to find how easy it was to spot "a FSsimmer" in a London pub! :-lol10: Joaquin, the Columbian barmaids made you feel right at home no? ;)11: Nuff respec' to hippyonenine who came all the way from Bournemouth! :-eek regardsEd http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/129637.jpgAMD Athlon 64 3500+, 1024Mb PC3200 DDR, 300Gb HD 128Mb DDR Nvidia 6600GT PCI Express, Audigy 2 ZSCH Products Yoke, Pedals and Throttle Quadrant My FS Videos
October 24, 200520 yr Author >Hello guys! ... I concur ...I really enjoyed the get>together.A more plausible conclusion would be for you all to organise a branch of the 'Flight Sim Users Group' in your area as we do in the southwest. We have around 40 members at our branch alone. The club membership stands at 1000 all dotted around the country, all waiting for this opportunity to meet other simmers like yourself. We meet once a month. Some of us bring along our individual set-ups. Some have multi-screens, flight controls and everything to do with flight simming. It is basicly a 'get together' to compare views, software and hints. If you are in the southwest, this is 'Mecca' I can asure you.We also display software so you get to see it before you buy it. Joining us will also get you a discount with 'R.C.Simulations' at Bristol.I can't wait for the next one here which takes place on Sunday November 20th at Ipplepen Village Hall 10.00 to 16. 00. Everyone is welcome? You can phone Richard on 01803 813702 for venue directions.Dave T. .........On the lovely warm Devon Riviera and active 'FlightSim User's Group' member at http://www.flightsimgrpuk.free-online.co.uk/ Dave Taylor
October 24, 200520 yr Just saw the thread, sorry I missed you guys, I was actually in London at the same time, in the Savoy Theatre in The Strand watching "The Rat Pack - Live in Las Vegas" That was a great show!Tom, you sure get around, Istanbul, Amsterdam, London, great for the air miles!CheersTimEHAMhttp://members.chello.nl/t.westnutt/realair.gif
October 25, 200520 yr You forgot Australia :)Yes, but at some point in your flying carreer they loose importance (i.e., when you have so many that you will most likely never use all of them)- after all, with that much milage, the last thing I want to do when on vacation is fly somewhere!!! As of this trip to Europe, I have accumulated over 180,000 miles in the last 12 months. That is a LOT of seat time... Anyway, to all who attended Saturday night in London, thank you again for attending. As every simmer I have met in my travels knows, I love to meet my fellow enthusiasts anywhere I can. It is a great hobby and one that is improved immensely when you get to know the faces behind the names that you see online so often. I also think it helps to share the various cultures we represent. That too contributes immensely to the hobby. Again, thanks to all who came to London for our get together. Hopefully, we'll be able to do it again soon.
October 25, 200520 yr Hi Tim,Small world ! I was at the Savoy last month providing "Theatre cover" in my role as a St. John Ambulance first aider. And you're right - its a great show !On the 8th November I'll be at "Dancing In The Streets" at the Cambridge Theatre and on 21st "Billy Elliot" at the Victoria Palace - just in case someone happens to be around !Alastair
October 26, 200520 yr Hi Alistair,Shame I missed you, thats a great way to see some excellent shows you have there and you do a worthwhile job too.Yes it was amazing, expecially the guy who played Sinatra, not only did he talk and sing like him but the physical resemblance was uncanny! He even stood outseide after the show to meet the people and sign autographs which was nice.I just wish my mother was still around to see it, she would have loved it too.Cheershttp://members.chello.nl/t.westnutt/realair.gif
