Prepar3D V3.3.3 Released

Recommended Posts

Do I have to download the full 3.3 package if I only want to install the client, content and scenery only? or can I only download the cab file, client, content and scenery.msi files and install those files only to bring me up to 3.3? I installed the client only last night and it all went a bit pear shaped, reverted back to 3.2.

Regards Rod.

It is Highly recommended that you download the entire folder to your computer,  This way you will have the complete downloaded to Install in your own comfort and time.

Yes, you can Install directly from the Prepar3D website.  Client is a stand alone Installer, Just click to Install.  Content comes in 2 parts,  Download cont1.cab first then run the Content.msi Installer.  Scenery,  you will have to download all the Scenery files first, then run the Scenery.msi

Please Note:  You have to Uninstall the Client first before you do a Client Update,  and the same for Content and Scenery.  (Content and Scenery are Optional)

My two cents for those with flickering textures. Do you use EZCA? It sets the ClipMode of its cockpit views to 'Minimum'. Try to delete this setting from EZCA camera definitions, which will restore ClipMode to its default value, i.e. 'Normal'.

'Z bias scenery flickering issues' fix could eventually make the sim more sensitive to ClipMode value. The reason for my suspicion is that, when testing v. 3.3 at an ORBX airport, I noticed an unusual level of flickering, but only in the Avatar mode (not affected by EZCA) that has a very low default near clip plane of its camera. I solved it by increasing the NearClipOverride value in the Avatar's sim.cfg file.

Nah, EZCA is one addon i would never put my hands on. I went back to 3.2 - flicker gone.

This is the only line that was of some interest to me: 'Added cloud facing mode setting to the weather section of the Prepar3D.cfg, refer to the Weather Settings section in learning center'. Hope that enables you to disable rotating clouds. I think I will wait with 'updating' until it's time to reinstall Windows 10. I am in no hurry at all.

Here it is out of the Learning Center. It is indeed what you thought it was.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Advanced Settings

These are advanced properties that can be adjusted inside the weather section of the Prepar3D configuration file found in %APPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\Prepar3D.cfg

CLOUD_FACING_MODE
Cloud Facing Modes

The cloud facing mode setting changes the behaviour of how the clouds face. The valid values for this setting are 0 and 1.

  • Mode 0: Camera facing far away, screen facing up close.
  • Mode 1: Always camera facing.

Confirmed by Tim at Orbx

Clean-installed the full V3.3 build today, installed a few random Orbx products (global, regions, airports, orbxlibs)

No Issues, Objectflow is working fine

Anyone with a Saitek X65-F using FSUIPC4 and P3d V3.3? All the axes work, but only the buttons on the stick controller work. The throttle controller buttons can be assigned with FSUIPC4, but they are not recognized in P3d anymore. I have made a post on Pete Dowson's official support forum. I am using FSUIPC 4.955 which is the version that works with P3d V3.3.

Everything else (ORBX, GTN 750, ASN, GSX, etc.) works fine. I really haven't seen any difference in performance over V3.2.

EDIT: Redoing all the axis and button assignments fixed everything for some reason.

I still have problems with some of the runway lights turning on and off during approach, on both stock and addon airports. Some extreme building flickering on some airport buildings but this may be limited to old FSX airport addons.
