June 7, 20169 yr What about those sceneries that have no issues in the current v3.3...? I think (and hope!) these sceneries will not be affected by the hotfix Cheers, Ed Everyone seems to assume that everything L-M does is progress forwards, and changes such as they made in this are bound to make things better. But this is not necessarily the case. The tech details in Gary Summons' thread (UK2000 forum) about the change and why he uses some methods originating in FS2002 show that there can be steps back in the ongoing design "improvements". Here's a salient section which I'm sure he won't mind me quoting (my emphasis though): Pete +++1 Cheers, Ed MSFS2020 Steam // Rig: Corsair Graphite 760T Full Tower - ASUS MBoard Maximus XII Hero Z490 - CPU Intel i9-10900K - 64GB RAM - MSI RTX2080 Super 8GB - [1xNVMe M.2 1TB + 1xNVMe M.2 2TB (Samsung)] + [1xSSD 1TB + 1xSSD 2TB (Crucial)] + [1xSSD 1TB (Samsung)] + 1 HDD Seagate 2TB + 1 HDD Seagate External 4TB - Monitor LG 29UC97C UWHD Curved - PSU Corsair RM1000x // Thrustmaster FCS & MS XBOX Controllers

There are certainly many creative ways 3rd party devs have come up with to solve problems, some methods have been more resilient than others as P3D progresses forward. If Gary is not on the P3D Beta team I'd encourage he get his voice heard as LM are and have been open to suggestions of feature enhancements. Like many others, I think I have all of UK2000 airports with P3D V3 installers and would hate to seem them get depreciated as P3D moves forward. Cheers, Rob.
June 7, 20169 yr Commercial Member There are certainly many creative ways 3rd party devs have come up with to solve problems, some methods have been more resilient than others as P3D progresses forward. But the "creative ways" in this case seem to have been the only ways until P3D version 2, as explained in the post by Andras in the L-M forum, and I quoted from in message #52 in the parallel thread here "P3D V3.3 incompatible Sceneries". Gary says he's going to alter his sceneries to suit, but i don't think he should need to. The hotfix from L-M should prevent that, hopefully, but I would be concerned for the longer term. The priorities of the P3D developers are not necessarily aligned with ours. It is L-M we are talking about, and P3D is emphatically not an entertainment product, remember? So their is apparently more than one way to skin a cat. Cheers, Rob.

From what Gary and Andras say, the grass and normal ground texture season changes are presumably handled okay by the system, it's the tarmac, runways and so on which should also show seasonal differences which are the problem. At least, that's what I'm understanding. Pete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. GPU: RTX 24Gb Titan 2 x 2160p projectors at 25Hz onto 200 FOV curved screen
June 8, 20169 yr Author Aerosoft has a Season Tool that works with several of their sceneries. It changes appearance of the vegetarion but could do the same for runways and tarmac.. June 8, 20169 yr Can i istall now all my airports and then i wait for the hotfix, or do i need to reinstall all of them after this hotfix? Wich part is affected? The client? Anybody? Cheers. Stefan Mühlemann
June 8, 20169 yr Hi Stefan, the airports should not be affected by the hotfix. So an install should be safe.Regards, Chris Regards, Chris -- PC: Intel 13900K, Gigabyte Geforce RTX 4090, 64GB Fury Beast DDR5 RAM; Display: Varjo Aero VR

Pete Pete Correct thinking the same here Pete... Hence if we followed the standard SDK, O boy then we wouldn't have a lot of complex aircraft we have now ;-) André
June 9, 20169 yr Andre, aircraft? I think you mean scenery? P3D SDK/PDK is very robust when it comes to aircraft, kinda boggles my mind how robust it is and what can be done including going outside standard flight model offerings. But just curious, I don't see A LOT of devs lining up and asking LM to add anything to the SDK in order to reach a specific feature/objective ... I know Pete did but anyone else? There are also many new features that aren't being exploited because they "don't work in FSX". Now that P3D is more popular, more devs are "paying attention", lets hope a golden opportunity is not missed. Agree, the focus of LM is commercial, but they took this issue on-board even though plenty of warning had be provided going back years that this compatibility day would come ... and yet.... Cheers, Rob.

June 9, 20169 yr I've decided to stay with v3.2.3, (it works perfectly with everything) and just sit in the bush, and watch what plays out. Ditto. For me, there is absolutely no reason to upgrade at this point. Too much mishmash going on.
June 9, 20169 yr Where are the docs on the new stuff? Same place they've always been for P3D ... either the Learning Center.chm and many samples/tools provided by SDK installer. Scaleform SDK, Modeling SDK with SpeedTree, 3DSM2015_x64 plugins, etc. etc. Cheers, Rob.

Tons of material, though, not much to help figure out what's new. I wish I had the time to dig through it. Somewhere in there I hope they have fixed some of the old bugs with the turboprop, turbocharge and mixture issues. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. June 9, 20169 yr I had requested they move the documentation into a more modern format (like PDF) some time ago but that didn't happen ... searching that CHM is horrible, not much better searching it online either. Oh well, documentation often gets the least amount of attention. Cheers, Rob. EDIT: there is a What's New section in the CHM that lists all the new/fixed features for each version going all the way back to V1.0. From that one can discover the "new features" available to devs.
