VoxATC 7 Beta bugs

As for the Oceanic handoff, make sure you have the migration tool enabled when you use P3d.

Really? It shouldn't require it, but is that a fix?

Take a look at the Estonia MIgration Tool's manual. That is how it says to use it. Also, it makes any legacy add on scenery visible to VOXATC, otherwise, you get problems. Make sure to run the Indexer after you enable the tool. You should disable to run FSX, or to install P3d native software. Otherwise, leave it on.

I don't believe that VOXATC 7 has EMT as a prerequisite. It is intended to work in P3D by itself, which is what it says 'on the tin'

You are correct EMT is not required. However, if you are using it because of other software, you must use it as directed or you will get the Oceanic Center handoff. If you have not been using EMT then disregard what I have said. I guessed that you were because that is the only time I have experienced that issue. Apologies for misinformation if I was mistaken.

I do not run EMT with the 7.2 beta, and as you can see from the video of the 737 tutorial flight 1that I did, I do not get Oceanic Centre handoff....

What 'other software' are you referring to?  Vox uses whatever the indexer finds...  What are you using that you think requires EMT to work?

Kevin, I wrote that EMT is not required. If you do use EMT to install legacy software, especially scenery, and don't run P3d with EMT enabled, you will get the Oceanic Center handoff error. If you only use P3d compatible software then there is no need for the EMT. I have a few older airports and A2A's P-51 that I use the tool for. Everything, including VoxATC works fine as long as I use it as directed.

Sorry, must have misread that, my apols!  I've chosen to steer clear of anything requiring EMT myself...

Hey Kevin

On a non VoxATC matter :) I just want to thank you for the wonderful ATC airspace addon, what a treat that is! Cant help but see you have been working on a Jersey Island scenery. Will that every be released to the public. ES did a great Alderney and Guernsey but never Jersey, and not having photoscenery for the Island is just so sad :) Uk2000 has a great Airport but ni photoscenery to do the Island justice!

Love to hear from you in this regard and hopefully, just hopefully one day Jersey photoreal :)

Thanks Mike, always nice to hear that someone thinks the effort was worth it!

As for Jersey, take a look at this... http://www.arm-computers.co.uk/Photo_Scenery/Jersey/jersey.html :)

Amazing, exactly what I was looking for! :) Just two short questions, I see very limited autogen buildings if any, only trees and some "special made non autogen buildings", am I missing something here or are there no autogen buildings added on the island? Also will you at some point add some 3D grass to the airport, you know  just to get that special feel to it? :)

Now all we need is VoxATC 7 :) with your ATC airspace the sky is the limit for realism here

Thanks again

Hello All.  I've got the latest beta VOX installed in the latest P3Dv3.  All works well except for one bug dealing with VFR flights. When I get close to my VFR destination, when I hit the "0" key various options show up on the prompt screen like normal. One of those is "Contact Destination."  In v6 of VOX when you selected that option the prompt directed you to change to the frequency of the destination, and then you contacted the airport.  Now, when I hit that selection it just takes me back to where I was before I hit the "0" button. All the other selections work when "0" is clicked, such as requesting the direction and distance to the destination, but not the "contact destination" option, even if I'm on top of the airport I want to contact.

Anyone encountered this before?

I have encountered the same bug. Hopefully it is being worked on for the release. Have you read about how to activate error logging, and submit the file to Tegwyn? By the way there are other selectable options that don't work as well, like requesting to transition specific airspaces. That was not in 6.52, but would be cool if it works.

A work around is to request a frequency change to the appropriate Unicom, ask Unicom for airport information, and announce your position and progress through the pattern. You'll have to remember all of the steps yourself because the prompter will keep telling you to tune to the last controller you were talking to. However, after you talk to Unicom, the airport will "wake up" and you'll have other traffic departing and arriving. Depending on the specific airport, you may even be able to close your flight plan by tuning to the appropriate FSS for the airport, or Utopia Radio on 122.2.

Thanks, Mad_Mac--I'll try the workaround.  Where do I find the info for error logging?

Open the advanced settings.exe, check the enable logging box. You can choose where to save the log file. When you notice a problem send an email to Tegwyn at [email protected] describing the problem and attach the log file. This cycle of beta testing started in Nov. and most of us have used the 60 days already, hoping for a release soon. If you read through this thread you'll probably see most of the problems you are likely to encounter, including the one you described, here.
