VoxATC 7 Beta bugs

Featured Replies

6.52 does not work as well with P3d v3 as it did with P3d v2. It is better than the current beta, but if you don't already have 6.52 you are probably better off waiting.

I am still on the fence personally about being charged full price for something that doesn't really appear to do more than or looks any different than the 6.52.   I feel like I am going to be forced to pay up because I dared to abandoned the FSX platform.    Is there a good Side by Side list of 6.52 vs. 7.0 features?  You don't change the number to the left of the decimal on the version numbers unless there are significant improvements or added features.  I have not seen anything yet to justify a 7.  Feels like 6.53 in it's current state.

You should absolutely not expect any addon designed for FSX to work in P3D, eapecially the later versions. If some addons do work, consider it a bonus. If you gave up FSX then you forced yourself to pay up, nothing more nothing less.

Vox v6 through to 6.52 were free covering a number of years development. If you want to have the same functionality in later versions of P3D then theres a development cost to be incurred. Theae kind of projects do not generate massive profits for devs, they are a labour of love essentially, simply because the numbers of units sold just do not add up to any kind of decent income at all :( So the choice is simple, pay to play, or sit on the sidelines, but moaning about it will not make any update cheaper :P

If you dont like the cost, then choose another product or stick with default atc. For me Vox is the best atc addon out there, so I'll be paying and playing :)

Well said Kevin, echoes my sentiments. I'm having a blast beta testing. By the way, I did see the "Go Around" that you were talking about. To me it looked like it landed, but 150 ft off the deck. I looked away and when I looked back it was actually finishing it's roll out, so I'm not sure how it got from 150 ft to 0 ft.  Another "Bug" (more like unrealistic procedure that was more correct in 6.52) I've noticed is: whenever I get handed off to Approach at Class C airports (Usually from more than 40 miles out). I am immediately am told to, "report the Airfield in sight." No prompt to listen to ATIS no need to report my location or my intentions. Anybody else noticing that? By the way, before anyone says anything, I'm regularly reporting my flights to Tegwyn and sending him the error log.

I've not seen the 150ft to 0ft teleportation no :P

When I approach an airfield, eg EGBO from EGBJ yesterday, I am asked to pass your message, before I report my type, position, alt, speed etc. Only after that do I get the report airfield in sight prompt. :)

I did get a weird request at EGGP today, asked to hold at rw09, then requested to taxi to holding point for rw 09 (which was my current location!) by crossing rw 09, then alpha and Charlie. For anyone familiar with EGGP this entails taxiing the length of the runway then back down Alpha which runs parallel to the runway for its full length :P Hmm, approx. 3 nm of taxiing just to get to exactly where I was already positioned? :) Reported to Tegwyn anyway... :P

Show me features worthy of 7.x and I will be more than happy to pay up.  VoxATC is amazing program but "We made it compatible with P3D" is not a feature worthy of a 7.x title to me.   Sorry if I took a swipe at the beloved VoxATC but my points are valid.   What are the big changes that make it worth the full price of admission on FSX or P3D?   Again, I ask.. is there a list of features that I can compare side by side to make the informed choice?   So far, the Beta is not impressing.   Half the flights have ended up with the ATC dying.. no error messages.. just.. they never respond after a certain point.  I have to revert back to  *cringe* default ATC.

Hey no problem no need to apologise for having an opinion :)

But thats all it is an opinion, most devs needs to have a little income from time to time. Vox is a niche product in a niche market. Regardless of a new feature set or not, if devs choose to charge for an update thats their decision to make. personally I regard myself as extremely fortunate that so many devs have chosen to provide P3D compatibility at no extra charge. At some point though additional costs are inevitable. Orbx and P3D future updates are a case in point. P3D is now such a changed animal and requires additional development cycles on a regular basis. We just cant expect this for free.

In answer to your q though, additional new features Ive noticed are very much improved ground ops at arrival airfields. I dont intend to use the new network deployability myself but others may. Parralel rw ops might make some airfields much more realistic as well. But whether you consider the feature set to be worthy or not of a charge, and thats a valid subjective opinion either way, its the devs choice at the end of the day.

Agree with all the views expressed by and large. My personal experience is that the beta stops responding and that it is far from a functional product at the moment. I've submitted various reports via the feedback form and not had any response.I would love to see this product mature but my patience has run out and I'm not going to be a "beta tester" anymore.

Jay

What is wrong with this Developer that he cannot be bothered to talk to his beta testers ?

Agree.

I am not going to buy v7 until i am sure is free of bugs, because i know how the developer is...

I use FSX and I will not run voxatc in a network, no too much new for me in v7, is like v6.53

The only reason i have to buy v7 is that i want to see the 6.52 bugs out. (bugs i see again in V7).

What bugs?

-"Last aircraft say again"

-fatal error

-Wrong SID for take off runway

-Wrong STAR for active runway

-Wrong Approach for cleared STAR.

-etc

I am willing to pay again the product for see it free of bugs?

depend the price

Many have been wondering about that for over a year now, it is a strange way to run a railway...

Many have been wondering about that for over a year now, it is a strange way to run a railway...

As I said in another thread, this is a very odd way to do an open beta. The first version was released almost three weeks ago and there's been no report of what is being worked on or what fixes have been completed. I'm using another program also and we get updates about once per week and some days, if there's a particular issue, we might get multiple updates. I'm not sure what Tegwyn's thought process is with this, but it doesn't seem to be working very well.

NAX669.png

I suppose the next thing we might hear is that a second Beta is released, 60 days after the first, with some of the bugs from the first Beta removed.

So we get another 60 days of free use, but still buggy and not much really "new" in it.

This cycle will be repeated until it is deemed "bug free" enough to be charged for, possibly many moons in the future...the other offerings out there may have caught up with Vox by then.

John,

It's not that far off now. if he decides to tackle the AI traffic issue, it will surpass.

That would be a game changer, but I haven't heard that that might happen, hopefully it will.
