Sorry if this seems to be going off-topic but there are a number of misconceptions here.

Not good running of  yoke, goflight, trackir. But OK, it could be that the drivers have been updated. I never looked at it again.

My controllers have all been plug-&-play. TrackIR certainly works but I can't comment on GoFlight.

I read in the beginning that if you run FSX in full screen mode, that you can not use fscommander, ASN etc anymore. Because it would focus only at FSX. But maybe that is fixed too?

ASN has worked full-screen for as long as I've had Win 10. I don't have FSCommander.

Privacy. Everything is hanging on Cortana ... If you switch the privacy items on, Microsoft switches them off again. You can find software to prevent that data floats to Microsoft.  I bought extra cpu power, so that I would have extra power for flightsimming. But the fact is, you bought extra cpu power in order to block stuff going out. The world upside down.

It's easy to switch Cortana off - it's the first thing I did. Likewise, with all of the other data gathering functions - free software like O&O ShutUp10 makes it all very straightforward. When it's all turned off your system is not blocking it, it just doesn't happen. The only time the settings have been reset for me was when I installed the Anniversary Update and, as before, it was easy to turn them off again.

Licence agreement, that Microsoft gets the owner of your documents. Pretty cheeky to me.

Never heard of this one. What makes you think that this is the case? I know that Google tried this briefly last year but had to quickly reverse the decision.

Advertising. Would I pay for an OS, in order to receive Advertisements? Also very cheeky.

Some people have mentioned this but I have never experienced it - not a single advert other than those on web pages which have always been there (and also easy to block). Perhaps it's something to do with OEM versions of Windows 10.

Yep. absolutely agree. I have W10 Pro. Not a single advert for me either. I really like W10, no issues with it at all.

Whilst faster RAM definitely improves performance, I'd be very surprised if you could get the 40% FPS improvement claimed in the video just by going from 2133 MHz to 3600 MHz RAM with fixed CPU and GPU clock speeds. If this was the case, surely AMD would be shouting about it and recommending only the faster RAM for gamers.

Intel fan-boys, it must be fake news ! The video must have been biased.... lol......

Point of the video is the performance, it could 5% or 50%, who cares.... It seem Ryzen is held back by the CCX and memory speed. Boosting the memory speed could have sizable results !

In the sim memory matters Amd or Intel, tested lot of beta bios , this with memspeed is not new!!

From day one Asus managed 3400mhz and now +3800mhz with beta bios,

Iam  not Intel or Amd fan-boy , get all info from other s sources mostly Asus RD.

Sorry to say but Amd have lot of work to do before they Catch Intel KabyLake in the sim.

There was no need for this.  No one said that.

Personally, I want to see more data points than that single video.

Not at all! It's only been my last two builds that have been Intel based. I think Ryzen has a lot of potential and it's great to see a real alternative to Intel at last. I just find his performance figures difficult to believe. Bearing in mind that Ryzen has struggled to get close to Intel in gaming performance, this would suddenly put them almost equal. Why are all of the other review sites not also shouting about this? This would really be a game changer for Ryzen. The Ryzen is undoubtedly right up there with the best all-round CPUs but when it comes specifically to ultimate gaming performance, the Intel quad core still currently seems to be the processor of choice.

I have seen a few YT videos/forum posts from other places that state once the higher RAM speeds are available it it "should" match the 7700k @ 1080p. Obviously they are basing this on tests on how the CPU performs between 2133mhz ram and the current top of 3200mhz (that most people seem to be able to attain) and the increase in performance between them. This has already closed to the gap from the original testing done at launch. AMD have stated that come May time they will have released info to the mobo manufacturers allowing ram speeds to hopefully get to 4000mhz so who knows what it will be like then, only time will tell.

Me personally I am waiting to see what happens when the dust settles before I buy my new PC rig.

No fanboiism there... just good ole fashion common sense!

You are a Intel Fan-Boy, otherwise you would have ignored my post ! I see you are still missing the point. The point of my post was improving performance, did you not read that part? Not Kabylake vs Ryzen.

If you want to game at low resolution at 1000fps and cook cpu at 5.2mhz, then ok Kabylake wins. Ryzen was designed be an well rounded 8 core multi-threading cpu, at a affordable price. So no Ryzen does not need to catch up, its the other way around. Ryzen is Great at playing modern games ! It doesn't need to win it just needs to be good enough at a good price point ! And it smokes at non-gaming tasks.

And if your still simming in that aging game called FSX/P3D, sorry. Maybe 7700K is your CPU. Ryzen, 780GTX, Xplane, 4K, high settings, smooth 30FPS locked.

So everybody and their brother was having issues getting a stable ram overclock past 2660mhz except you on day one, bs........

Is your word the Gospel ? Anyone can claim anything to fit their narrative. So why should anybody believe a word you are saying ?

Don't bother replying, im done....

But is it really that good a price point,  for something that's just "good enough" ?

Here in the UK these are the prices I am seeing, not that compelling really is it.

Kaby Lake £359

1700X  £368

Westman, one of the most respected members of the hardware forum with more overclocking experience than any other individual in this community (including yours truly who has been doing it for over 20 years), is completely undeserving of your baseless accusations.  This is the second time in this thread you've thrown around the "Intel ######" label. This is an emotional response to a situation where no offense was offered, and therefore it is entirely unwarranted.

Secondly, belittling the platform of choice of the majority of users here (FSX) is no way to endear yourself to anyone, and offers no value to the community.  Thirdly, P3D is anything but aging as it is in active development and has had many changes to the code base since first release, including a complete overhaul of the graphics engine.

Finally, as to your contention in a prior post that "boosting memory speed could have sizable results"

Here is Ryzen with 3200MHz RAM tested against the 7700k with 3000MHz RAM:

Edit: I just noticed that the insult you used is actually automatically censored.  You've had to bypass the filter to even include it in your post.  Should've been your first clue that maybe you shouldn't be using it?
