Which of these two aircraft is better simulated?

Featured Replies

I am looking into purchasing one off these two aircraft but i can't decide.

Aerosoft twin otter extended OR Carenado Do 228-100 HD Series

If anyone owns these aircraft please help. Thanks

I have both. I'd have to say that the Twin Otter is somewhat better simulated, but I like each of the aircraft. Why not get both if you can afford to do so? :-)

I don't have the Carenado Dornier, but I can say for sure that the Aerosoft Twotter is definitely worth a buy! It's very very well done.

I'm ditto with the post above. I don't have the Dornier and Carenado usually make good products, but the Aerosoft Twin Otter is SUPERB!!!!

Another vote for the Twotter from me too. It is great.

Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

The Twin Otter is in a league of its own. Excellent documentation, load manager and in-game simulations. Not to mention you're getting multiple variations of the plane and an easy to use paint kit. If you're a turboprop fan, it's a must buy, arguably best in class for FSX.

For me the Carenado Dornier as with all the Carenado products I've bought is a "fun to fly, fun to look at it" type aircraft. But, I enjoy flying it just as much as the Twin Otter.

Given the choice of the two based on simulation, I'd fly the Twin Otter, every time.

That being said, the Dornier has GTN integration, a much nicer autopilot and (which might be important) considerably faster cruise speeds.

I fly both with FSEconomy and if given the choice of the two there, I'd pick the Dornier, every time.

Can't go wrong with either choice.

Most of the flight simulation community is pretty toxic and gets easily worked up about little things. Just go into it knowing that.

Twotter by far

Another vote for the Twin Otter. I have both that and the Do228 and both are very good but the Twin Otter is outstanding in its class.

Definitive the aerosoft Twotter! Better sim, better features, better flying/handling. The Carenado is just like every Carenado... good graphics, not more.

I don't have the Dornier, but it's by Carenado, which would rule it out as a purchase for me. Also the Aerosoft Twin Otter isn't far off study level quality.

And with the Twotter costing nearly €10 less than the Dornier, you're getting a lot more depth for about 25% less money.

I got the Twotter in the end and i love it. I think later on i will have to get the Dornier as well :)
