Anyone have the 1080ti yet?

Recommended Posts

Hello,
I'm also interested if anybody can test their new GTX 1080Ti with heavy cloud compare to GTX 1080. My GTX 1080 performs very good but when having heavy clouds (overcast) fps can drop from 50-60fps down to 20-25fps. Using ASCA 512x512 cloud with max layers and 1920x1080 monitor.

Thanks,
Hoang Le

Hi Hoang.

I have a Gigabyte 1080TI Founders edition.

Using ASCA 512x512, 5 layers of clouds.

Resolution is 4k.

Heavy clouds with the PMDG 747v3 at Aerosoft Heathrow. P3D settings: 16x Anisotropic + 4 MSAA. Extremely Dense + detailed clouds at 90mi = I get around 25fps. Slight drops to 18fps, with peaks to 30-32fps.

My processor is an non-overclocked 6700k at 4.2ghz.

cheers

Hi,

Your settings pretty much similar to mine except the monitor resolution. So these 2 cards don't have that much difference even with heavy clouds...

Thank you for your test!

Well, the difference is the ability to fly in 4k resolution. If you are planning on sticking with 1920x1080 then in my opinion it's much of a difference going from the GTX 1080 to the 1080TI considering the price tag.

In my case, I jumped from a GTX 780 to the 1080TI. Biiiiiiig difference!

cheers

Absolutely right!

The 1080ti really shines in 4K. Not so much in P3D (but even here you get a good boost, especially in overcast conditions) but in all other modern games!

Just sold my Titan X maxwell and ordered a Gigabyte 1080 ti Gaming OC.

As I fly with a triple view setup it will surely help.

And I am Prepar3D for v4...

I have my eye on that one too.
What are it's temps and noise levels like?

Thanks,
gb.

I have my Aorus 1080ti overclocked and temps are around 70c in P3D with heavy clouds at Orbx Pago Pago and the 747v3. This is with most sliders maxed and 4k rez.

I use the Aorus Graphic Engine utility to run power slider full and temp slider full. The boost clock is set at 1760 mhz and the memory clock is set at 11110 mhz. Also custom fan profile with 100 percent fan at 70c.

At 100 percent fan it can be a bit noisy but my game or sim sounds usually mask it anyway.

Use the OC mode for P3D.

I use it too and the card OC's itself to 1926 mhz. Even when the OC mode is saying 1645 mhz.  So I presume that those values are minimum boost values.

You can check it with the monitor feature.

So I do not use the User defined settings.

FYI :

My triple view setups has 15-20% more max framerates.

However I use Uimited in P3D and 25 fps in DXTory.

Instead of 4x MSAA and 8x AF with overcast situations I now can use 8x MSAA and 16x AF without those small jitters that sometimes appeared with the Titan X maxwell.

The flying experience is more smooth and sharper ..,

I set the clock so the graph reads max at 2000 under heavy gaming which is about the most I want to go.

Got my system with the EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC Black a few days ago.

FSX-SE is smooth as silk in DX-10.

Hi,

Did you get significant raise in fps?  And which cpu & frequency are you using?
