Anyone have the 1080ti yet?

UPDATE!!

I am currently using the newest nvidia drivers. I was at flight beams ksfo in the 747 with 5 cloud layers set in ASN. 20 individual ai traffic airplanes.

II have shadows turned on fo everything except simobjects and vegetation and buildings. terrain shadows cast distance is 30000 as well as cloud cast distance.

most sliders to the right with Max cloud coverage and 100 mile draw distance. looking to the airport, i was getting 20-25 fps. on the climb out and cruise over a thick overcast cloud layer, fps were hovering around 25 to 30 fps.

Right now, over low amount of clouds, fps are btwn 30-40.

The wingviews and spot plane views are well into 60 fps with an occasional drop in the 40s.

These numbers were noticed while flying the new pmdg 747.

I'm pleased with how this card handles 4k and it makes my flying feel more like when I was using my 970 on a 1080p moniter. However, im surprised that I'm not getting consistent performance in the 30s fps wise.

I do have an old 2700k OCed to 4.8 ghz. which means slower RAM as well.

Avg GPU load hovers around 70% no matter the wx situation or scenery situation. Load DOESN'T change no matter what graphical settings I increase.

It sounds like I'm all tapped out on my cpu because reducing the resolution back down to 1080p, my fps don't change much, if any.

This card is great for 4k gaming with higher graphical settings.

If any of you think I shoukd be seeing better performance with this card, let me know, I may have screwed something up.

While I know the two aren't related (or maybe they are), it's great having the high performance with the card, but what about VAS?  Aren't we (still) subject to an OOM (after a few minutes/hours) with the settings that high?

I would definitely assume so. I have been getting more OOMs but I don't know if that's because of the newer nvidia drivers or the settings. I have the graphic settings up.previosuly before I went to 4k with out any issues.

Still leery of the Founders Edition cards. Some tests show the stock cooling solution is still barely adequate.

It's alright. I run my fans at 70% which is audibly loud and the Temps stay around 72%. That's at full load and a core clock running at 2000mhz.

I agree with HiFlyer but at least ASUS, for one, has an option to allow one to change the fan speed from auto to manual and cool off the card.  If placed on auto, be careful.

Has anyone here gone from a 1080 to a 1080Ti yet? Interested to see if there is a big or small difference.

I will when the ASUS 1080TI is released.  On the Internet, on the benchmark websites, they state the 1080TI is 35% better in performance than the 1080 (just do a Google of 1080 vs 1080TI.  That's the info I go by.  From the experts who test these sort of things.  The ones getting ready for release by ASUS, Gigabyte, EVGA, etc., will be souped up (but will cost much more). Better for FSX or P3D?  There might be a slight increase in performance but I doubt 35% as FSX/P3D are CPU bound.  Still you have a benchmark to go by and you can tell all of your friends, "I got the 1080TI cus it was 35% faster from the 1080".

Best regards,

Jim

We are looking for the same one!  I heard it will be released very soon and before the end of this month.  I would imagine they will all be released once when someone like ASUS releases their version.  Right now I have the ROG ASUS 1080 Strix.  I'll be going to the Classified Ads Forum when I get the new 1080TI.

Best regards,

Jim

I don't think I'll be spending some $700-800 to get an improvement hardly noticeable in the sim but if I would I would get the MSI one.

I ditched Asus long time ago after seeing a bit too much of how they made fools out of themselves in their own support forum by not even commenting on issues reported more than a year ago by lots of people...really embarrassing IMHO.

My little nephew will get mine, and he deserves a reward anyway for finally making Eagle Scout.

I found a post at the P3D forums where someone went from a 1080 to a 1080ti and did not see a difference in P3D. It is possible I suppose but would like to see more reports before shelling out that kind of cash.

If that turns out to be the case then instead I might just buy another used 1080 and go back to sli. Sli even with all it's problems did give me a bit more in P3D then one card when I had 980's in sli.

I personally doubt there will be any improvements as P3D is CPU bound.  Heck, I don't see any improvement from my "old" GTX780 with the ASUS 1080 I have installed now.  The only improvement that will be major will be a conversion of P3D to 64 bits and, if that happens, I'll be ready with an overclocked/optimized 1080TI.  Right now we have to hold down on our settings and we cannot make full use of our graphics card or we will crash very fast.  With almost unlimited VAS for each 64 bit application (you are still limited to something like 8TB's) I believe we'll be able to move the sliders higher.  Maybe not all of the way to the right but higher and you need a powerful graphics card to render all of the textures required when the settings are very high (especially when you are flying at 300 plus mph).  I think a 1080 can handle that but I want to be sure so, in the end, I will pay about $250 - $400 more for the TI (depends on whether I can sell the 1080 I have now for $500).  I heard the price of the TI will be over $800 but less than $900.  It could be more....

Best regards,

Jim
