I really do hope that P3D v4....

64 bit and lots of room memory wise. P3D/FSX engine is way past its prime. So I put a moratorium on any further purchases for that old platform. Time to move on. NO more VAS!

Until or unless XP can conjure up good ATC and AI traffic, its a no go for me.

IBTL.

I would imagine someone with a signature like yours, would be a hardcore simmer who uses Vatsim religiously.

So you believe that XP has decent ATC and AI Traffic?  You're certainly  in a minority. I've been coaxing along a combination  of 124thATC/P2ATC and World Traffic  2 with the XP11  betas and the result isn't going to win any prizes.  Just like people who have P3d keep pining, hoping and dreaming for 64 bit, XP users keep wondering  why ATC and AI Traffic keeps getting  the short end of the stick

When and where did I say this??

Nah you just made a sarcastic remark about VATSIM in response to another poster saying that the ATC and AI in XP were both substandard.

Jay, you're reading way too much into what I said.

His signature is filled with stuff, leading me to believe he is a hardcore simmer.  Personally, I haven't used default ATC or ai traffic since mid FS9.  And with THAT, I imagine I'm in the majority.  Take things at face value.  Don't go misquoting people.  I was in no way being sarcastic.

He made one simple statement in his post and now you're claiming that you made your response based on his signature?  Maybe the casual simmer doodle around and look at scenery on sunny day, but there is a large contingent of people who would like to see more realism and that realism includes things like flight plans, ATC and other aircraft in the sky and on the ground.

You're looking for an argument that isn't there, Jay.  Let it go.

ATC, and Live Traffic, are areas that could indeed contribute to the "feel of  being there", just like weather and credible flight dynamics, but unfortunately they're seldom served the best way...

I never found an acceptable robot representation of ATC, and I believe the tries I mad with either VATSIM or IVAO were not "good" ones, because they probably coincided with times where there were very few online controllers available where I was willing to simulate my flights...

Then, I sometimes wonder myself what good / realistic is to have Live Traffic" injected into your flight simulator if your ATC can't deal with it ... and you have to "penetrate" the realistic traffic with a quite unrealistic set of decisions that aren't really controlled by any sort of ATC - what's the use of it... ?

I remember playing and enjoying very much Propilot 99 and Flight Unlimited, even with their limited embedded ATC robots... I just wish I had something similar today in XP or P3D. But I confess that since I totally gave up on XP, I didn't try the latest betas and it's ATC - and I've been told it was tuned up and feels better than in default XP10 ATC ( ? )

I use Radar Contact 4 with this http://www.multicrewxp.com/RC4toXplane.pdf

It works fine in XP11, really well.

Agree about the need for a more user friendly AI traffic program though

I used RC4 in FSX and now Xplane and IIRC PFE. AI does need the one install for all option.

Why?  Well.... As an avowed FSX'er since the year dot - and latterly a D'er (but not according to SWMBO), I have resolutely avoided XP after we had a very brief collision a couple of years ago. No-one died, there were no witnesses and we both dusted ourselves off and went our seperate ways.

Several weeks ago, in a moment of grape-induced curiosity, I bought the dreaded foe in order to lay to rest all of my lingering doubts and to finally affirm to myself that this 'alternative' Sim really was the imposter that I had always known it to be.

Bad move.

To fly, rooftop-level, over Innsbruck in XP11 is an absolute revelation in scenic graphics (try it in P3D and you will immediately understand). To have an aircraft illuminate its own way to a hangar or gate at night (and any object that falls in its path), is simply astonishing. Scenery to die for and most of it Freeware or DonationWare!!

I could go on and on about this Sim ... but there simply isn't enough space or time in my Life to talk.... I am back flying.

I really do hope that P3d v4 can recreate the epiphany moment that I have recently experienced with XP11...

...because then - WE, as a flight sim community will have the very best of both Worlds!!

Well, Mr. Seagull and everyone....it's been a bit and a final release of XP11 later and I must say I've only fallen more in love with XP11.  So smoooooooth and much higher frame rates, no "blurries", no "OOMs" vs. P3D..so much wonderful scenery, scenery that is easy to create/modify to one's liking (I'm building my own version of 3W5 Concrete, WA now), the FlyJSim 727s....the list goes on and on.

And Ortho4XP?  Just mastered that this weekend (watched a good YouTube video first) and a huge "wow"...I can't believe a few clicks and you can create such great scenery (aided by more freeware data and USWest autogen downloads.

I'm having fun and loving this hobby again....and love XP11...but I still am excited to see what P3D v4 will bring.

I've been having fun with this hobby since FS98 20 years ago and can't wait to see what the next 20 years brings.

Steve
