April 2, 20179 yr Moderator I would not like to have my office anywhere near the top! Looking out the window and seeing nothing holding me up would trigger a panic attack and likely a heart attack as well! Fr. April 2, 20179 yr It's a visually cool idea. The pragmatist in me wants to know where you'd put all the mechanical services normally located on skyscraper rooftops like elevator motors and HVAC equipment. That building won't cool or heat itself, and that's a lot of stairs to climb to reach the top. April 3, 20179 yr The CNN article seems to refer to a ropeless elevator developed by Thyssen-Krupp. The building must have a huge footprint unless it straddles a main street. Dugald Walker

According to Picture #4 at the link provided, it would be located on 57th Street, and would straddle an existing building. Fr. April 3, 20179 yr Thanks. I didn't realise there were other images. Do you think they would permit a building taller than the new World Trade Center with all of its symbolism or is it far enough away that it wouldn't be a factor? Dugald Walker
