Introducing Flight Sim World!

Recommended Posts

In order for us to progress the technology further and push the engine to its limits, compatibility can't be maintained. This also speaks to optimizing the sim to take better advantage of modern PCs

Will the new sim still be using a similar system to FSX for calculating the flight model based on performance tables etc, or will it be using something closer to the blade element theory system in XP? I seem to recall reading somewhere since the announcement that there has been a change but can't find the reference in any of the DTG material.

Okay, my concern is whether provision is made to fall-back to DX10 as DX11 is only available via Win10. I refuse to allow MS's Win10 virus on any of my systems. :emu_melk:

That's Dx12, which is why we used Dx11

Does the team foresee airliners within the product?

One of the biggest cons on this tecnology is the distance view and washed textures. The picture bellow is a little disappointing, near scenery is great, but the far scenery is really poor rendered.

Does DTG intend to work more on that?

"Moving things forward"? Really. With the same old ORBX scenery files and a few GA aircraft?

Gray bands as a depiction of roads left over from FS9 or even FS2000 (1:40 min into trailer)????

A bunch of marketing hype and hot air, minus the 'WOW' effect. Really disappointed what I've seen in the trailer.

Nothing that we don't already have!

Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

There will definitely be airliner content in the future, whether that is including airliners in the core sim or calling on third party developers to bring their talents to the store. We haven't made a decision yet, as we are trying to get the basic elements of the platform right before we start expanding the scope of content.

Also, what's the deal with 3rd party devs?  Will we be using a totally new SDK?  What's involved in porting?  And finally, will we be allowed to sell our stuff as we do now? (not using Steam and on our own stores)

All questions I, and I am sure, others, wish to know.

Thanks.

Scenery performance and optimization is on our laundry list

I don't have specific information on tools as that information sits with our third party team.

In order to market as an official FSW add-on, you will be able to sell your add-ons on your own store as long as it is made available on the Dovetail channels as well.
