@Glynn

My v3 was also working without issues.

But: Just install v4, crank up the sliders and take a look at only the drawing distance and you will throw away v3 as soon as possible ;)

V4 I am hoping to be OK but its calling for 32GB RAM and a 1080TI. Not this year for sure! Will hope tube flying and 1080x1920 will get me by.

At 1920x1080 a GTX 1070 will be enough for P3D v4.  I am replacing my dead GTX 650 ti SC with a 1070. It is even powerful enough for a res of 3440x1440.

As for 32GB of ram. I really don't know as I have done very little research on the matter. I am hoping my 16gb of ddr3 will do the job.

I switched to v4 on the first week of release, I was very happy with the result. I can boost the details like never before and finally I achieve 30fps with no stutters and complex planes. The only flaw is with terrain shadows, which act very weirdly. They cause heavy stutters in some sceneries or don't behave properly (change of lightning panning the view). I use A2A and PMDG planes, AS16+ASCA, ORBX, Flytampa Airports, GSX, PTA and Chaseplane.
I play at 2560x1080

V4 is quite simply, everything I wish V3 was.

V3 I had to turn my sliders down, not because of performance issues, but because of OOMs

I have limited SSD space and I don't feel like spending much more on replacing one. I mainly fly with the PMDG 737/777, TFDI 717 and Aerosoft Airbus, the latter of which of course won't be available in V4 anytime soon. I also plan on adding the Majestic Dash soon which also isn't available. Not to mention, Orbx Vector still isn't out. Once those addons are released I'll move over. Most of my scenery consists of FB, FSDT, FT and a few Aerosoft/Pacsim and others here and there, most, if not all of which are already compatible.

When I saw this poll I replied to this "I will purchase/install P3D v4 but also keep P3D v3 installed, until all/most of my add-ons become "

Now I do not fly the P3Dv3. I have never dumped a sim so fast before!

Your 16GB will do you just fine for now. I have 64GB and I haven't been able to make V4 use more than 9GB, and believe you me I've been trying ;)

Just patiently waiting for the PMDG NGX to be V4 Compatible... that should of been the first product they did for V4.. there are FAR more people using the NGX

I've only just stumbled onto this poll so has less meaning now I guess but...

When P3Dv4 come out I thought I would play with V3 quite a bit flying the favourite planes while patiently waiting for more V4 content to release, however I found myself starting up P3Dv4 ever time and sadly flying around in what limited 3rd party software I have. (Ie 777/747 without Fs2crew) It sux waiting but I have not returned to V3 as it now sux compared to V4.

Love your work LM

Same here. The v4 performance on my system gave me all I needed and overshadowed v3 almost overnight. I can wait for addons to catch up.

With all shadows, dynamic lights, SGSSAA, heavy clouds scenarios GTX1070 is not enough for FHD. With texture_size_exp=10 GTX1080Ti goes to lead with 11GB VRAM.. For FHD you will be propably fine with it - GPU will be not bottomneck for you in any scenario, but expect heavy usege.
