June 7, 20178 yr The update is out. Some of the planned changes have missed this fix pack. Details can be found by reviewing the news item about FSW on Steam. Regards Trevor
June 7, 20178 yr 193.8 Mb, so it came down the pipe in about a minute. Gives an alert about updating airport list when you crank FSW up, so evidently that has changed. Mission Editor now sorted too. Just done a quick test and the flight test parameters for the licence mission at White Waltham are still all over the shop; you can be nailed on 90 knots perfectly and the examiner still ends the test claiming that you aren't maintaining the correct airspeed, making it impossible to complete the test successfully, so evidently that hasn't been looked at. June 8, 20178 yr Maybe they're basing the mission on TAS ? Try setting the ASI to show TAS instead of IAS in the General settings... June 8, 20178 yr Try that lesson, you will see what I mean guys (you need to do the preceding six lessons and have at least three hours of free flight time logged before you can do so). It is using TAS incidentally (albeit not accurately) and I do use shift+z to check that, not that it should make much difference anyway (less than 2 knots by my reckoning) when you are at a circuit height of 1,000 feet agl and it is clearly somewhere nearabouts 1013Mb/29.92, since the altimeter is reading zero when you are on the deck and White Waltham is only about 130 feet above sea level. Trust me, if I can nail the other Twin Rating licence mission where you have to climb to 6,500 feet and hold a heading in twin with its left engine out, then land it, and this on the first try, then I should have no problem being to fly at a 90 knots at 1,000 feet in a straight line in a Piper Cub, and I certainly can, because that is not hard lol. Trust me, it's not the flying, it's the way the mission parameters are being read. Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
June 8, 20178 yr Commercial Member Thought I'd post here to save people on mobile devices struggling to look on steam like I did....... :) From steam: "Our second community update has now been cleared for take-off! The update is approximately 205 MB, and should download automatically once you have opened Steam. Here is a quick reminder of what to expect this week: PA-18 Super Cub Airspeed indicator calibration has been corrected Reconfigured instrument panel to improve eye-line Contact point adjustments to improve tire/ground contact PA-28 Cherokee Starter torque has been increased to aid cold starts Airspeed indicator calibration has been corrected Contact point adjustments to improve tire/ground contact Optimizations across cockpit instrument selection models PA-34 Seneca Contact point adjustments to improve tire/ground contact Attitude functionality improvements Optimizations across cockpit instrument selection models PA-46 Malibu Mirage Annunciator PROP HEAT functionality corrected along with two overhead switches External glass visibility improved Fixed compass/dial/VOR gauge functionalities DA40/DA42 G100- functionality improvements Corrected tooltips Optimizations across cockpit instrument selection models RV7 Optimizations across cockpit instrument selection models All aircraft Gauge highlights now functional across all aircraft. Additionally, we have implemented logic improvements across aircraft auto-pilot systems. Additional Fixes Addressed erroneous paths in Pro Mission editor startup Fix crash related to use of Sidewinder 2 joysticks. Please note force feedback has been disabled for these joysticks. ATC can now be closed with the hotkey. Comms widget is now auto-closed if it doesn’t contain tabs. Server name and password dialogues now sort correctly with flight planner in Multiplayer mode Various localization fixes Various crash fixes We have had to delay a performance improvement for players using full screen and multi-monitor set ups due to the need for further testing. You can, however, expect to see it in a future update. Shift + z didnt work for me in Mission too, until I figured out, that I have to click somewhere out of the dialogue box with the mouse. after that it works.

Nah, not even attempting those last two lessons for the licences until they fix them; you've got the guy saying fly at 90, the text is saying fly at 60, then he wants you to demonstrate slow flight, so you slow down to 60, then he says you're too slow, so you speed up, then he says you're too fast, but is telling you to maintain 90 knots with the text alternately telling you to do 90 or occasionally it'll say do 60, until the mission ends prematurely because you didn't manage to fly at both 60 knots and 90 knots at the same time, which is apparently the requirement, and this at 6,500 feet when you are already struggling to get the mixture correct for a decent power setting in hot desert conditions with the airfield at 5,000 feet above sea level. Anyone know where I can buy a Piper PA-28 Cherokee which can fly at two different airspeeds at the same time? All the other lessons and missions are pretty good, but those two single licence ones are just total nonsense lol. Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
June 8, 20178 yr I expected the autopilots to be fixed but if they did then it didn't make it onto my install. I don't see any change in either the Senaca or the Malibu Mirage. maybe its just me. after flying for 37 years I suddenly have no idea how to operate an AP. it'd be awesome to have manuals. On the plus side, the external models appear brighter and the shadows under them while on the ground is not as dark. Im not sure what else has changed.?? simconnect? mission editor? some swf menus? | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. You can now start the mission editor without getting all those stupid error messages which is an improvement. Sadly there's no instructions at all as to how to use it. Ironically DTG do provide a manual but it's empty! I've had a bit of a hunt around on the net and found a couple of tutorials on how to use FSXME which apparently forms the major part of the editor. With the aid of those I've created some very simple missions but I'm still trying to get my head around it. It does seem to occasionally hang. I've also found that if you close the window called "Attributes" it's impossible subsequently to edit attributes. The only way I've found of getting that wretched window back is to reset the editor which seems pretty cludgy! BTW the reason I closed that window in the first place is because there didn't seem to be any way of moving or resizing it. I'm sure there must be a way but I haven't found it yet. Check out this guide: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=933473891 I'd like to thank you for taking the time to create that guide. well done. Ill spend time with it and see what I can learn. My biggest frustration has been that I tend to fly in HDG mode and if you try that, the minute you try to click ALT or VS, it will disable HDG mode. and I saw no way to adjust VS or ALT on either Senaca or Malibu. but you have shown me there is a way. Thanks. :) | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. There's always a sunset happening somewhere in the world that somebody is enjoying.
