Yea, that was pretty pointless.

>What is the issue with companies thinking no 2D panel is the>way to go?? We are not even close to being able to run 100%>VC in a complex plane like a Boeing. I understand the RealAir>planes, but they're very simple analogue gauges, not CRTs!>>Simmers who want to simulate as close to real numbers as they>can aren't going to be happy watching all the gauges stutter>around like crazy. VCs are just difficult to use IMO,>considering you have to pan all over the place to get to>certain switches. >>Add a third party panel...>http://deephousepage.com/smilies/chair1.gif>>:-erksBy popular request and thanks to many simmers having voiced the same opinion, CS will be adding a 2D panel to Block F. See the announcement in their forum.

A new product has been released and immediately people crawl out of the nay-sayer cave claiming loudly that they wouldn't purchase this product. What's the point?I think the block system is great, because not everyone might want to buy all blocks. Some might be happy with the exterior model, some others maybe just look for a panel. What is wrong with that? It is the modularity of FS that makes it so exciting, so that everyone can tailor their sim to suit their needs and fit their system. As for functionality: The website clearly states that the "Express" version is limited in functionality and somewhat "simple". Any problems with that? Then wait until the "Pro" version comes out.I cannot understand why (supposedly) grown men can fly the most complex airliners on the flight sim market, but cannot read the website before blindly purchasing a product.*pops another beer and leans back*Pat

EVERY payware company "weeds" out negative posts from their forums... Level-D, PMDG, PSS, and Captain Sim... There are some companies who readily accept criticism (both positive and negative) of their products and strive to make them better. There are also companies who turn a blind eye to their customers and just "count da money" they made!I wouldn't base your decision to purchase on the constant whiners.. but rather on your own intuition, George. As you can see from the posts, there ARE some who are quite happy with the product!

WHY? WHY? WHY?It happens almost every single time a new release comes out, i.e. confusion, angst, ranting, flaming and disappointed customers. AND, the developers have NO ONE to blame but themselves. This is not an attack on the developers because I definitely bow to their talent in producing magical add-ons for FS. BUT, from an marketing standpoint just about each successive release is an absolute nightmare that seems to just get worse every time.Sure it is easy to blame the consumers, but you know what? THATS how consumers are!! They are impulsive and this goes from everything from buying toothpaste to Ferraris. The seller can take advantage of this, but it seems to always blow up in their own faces, so why bother? In the "brick and mortar world" there are so many things that underpin a product release. Focus groups, surveys, user experience scales, et al. These are all done so that when the company releases a product the advertising campaign doesn't produce the opposite effect and end up driving away customers. The magic of introducing "revolutionary" changes to the defacto target customer paradigm is to UNDERSTAND the customer paradigm in the first place!!!But it seems each and every time, the developer comes up with a great idea and 'unleashes' it with out the proper research and each and every time it explodes in their faces. (shakes head)I think that the BLOCK approach is a GREAT idea, but the execution of it was totally sophomoric. Had the product been completed in full then released in blocks it would have been truly great. The softcore types could get the pretty plane, plop a default panel and a GPS and be happy. While the hardcore folk (like me) can connect every subsystem during a 45 minute preflight and be happy. And the middle crowd could mix and match as necessary to fit their needs and budgets and be happy. See how easy? Everybod's happy! *sigh*Could you imagine. You buy your dream house from a builder after seeing the pictures that made you drool. HOWEVER, you can't get a basement or backyard, the stove works but you have to use matches to light it, you have to turn on the lights by touching two wires together becuase the switchs come later, and only 1 out of 5 bedrooms are available for use right now. BUT, the outside of the house is finished. Well those who just want to live in a pretty facade of a house are happy but those who want the whole house may buy but soon become disenchanted with the level of incompleteness and then become impatient with the builder to get the other pieces in place and it WILL go downhill from here. They pay as you go doesn't work if you can't pay to 'go' when you want to! This is what CS did. Good premise, bad execution.I see why companys spend millions on customer research for each product release. Sure, the FS market doesn't exist on that scale, but there HAVE to be other ways of avoiding these Hirosima type explosions every time a product is released.*just my personal opinion*

:-lol :-lol :-lol :-lol :-lol :-lol :-lol WELL SAID!!!

That's how you buy a NEW house nowadays anyway!!You see a BEAUTIFUL model... all nicely decorated, painted, accessorized... you fall in love with it and decide to buy!THEN... when you go to do the contract, they tell you.."it's $5000 extra for crown mouldings, $15,000 for upgraded carpet padding, $9000 for anything other than the crappy default builder's hardwar, etc... etc.. etc...By the time you actually sign the contract, you've paid almost $50,000 more than the selling price!

Hello all, Just wanted to voice a personal opinion -- I have the Level D, and will not be buying the CS 757. I like the Level D, it serves my needs and I really don't need a 757 -- First I have waaaaay too many aircraft which I have bought and dont' fly, secondly, until I see a review, (written by someone I respect as a pilot and ardant simmer),I no longer put much faith in CS and their products. The 727 was great when it hit the stands, but it had a ton of problems which we all wanted to work through. Most of what I have seen lately from CS is a great idea, with great eye candy, but little substance when it comes to flight models and the such. A shame, because their eye candy and ideas are right up there with the best -- but read on, because there are a few working for CS and a few mouths to feed and it comes down to basic economics. One reason is because this is such a small market to put out products and the 'payback' is so small compared to the outlay. This isn't the real world, this is the world of FS and in truth, although we like to think we are such a great bunch (in numbers), in truth, our numbers are very, very small compared to most other type of products. I really find it extremely hard to believe ANYONE can make a 'good' living putting out products for MSFS. It might be a nice addition to the income, but I doubt anyone could live 'upper-middle-class' on what FS alone brings in unless you are as large a company as Flight1, or something in equal size, and even then, you would have to keep your employee numbers very small, indeed. The world today, (at least in the USA) has gone from Dad making the income to Mom and Dad BOTH having to work just to pay the bills, the house payments, the second mtg's, the SUV payments and putting the younger ones through school. With computers, cell phones, everyone flying to bussiness meetings, health care, even pet care expenses, this world has become a most expensive place in which to hang your hat and live comfortably. I'm speaking of the USA, but I'm sure it is no different in the UK, or Canada, or other modern, techno countries.Face it, its just getting tougher and tougher to make a buck in this world -- and Lord forbid you are my age, and live on a fixed income -- a most scarry thought. Just the health care is enough to frighten one into an early heart attack! Savings? Retirement? Retirement income? does anyone know what those words mean? I use to think I did, but in this day and age -- their meaning seems to escape me.Sorry guys and gals, I seem to have gotten off the beaten track, but again, if you get what you pay for in this day and age, you are most lucky . . . most times it's moderate dissappointment. I guess the FS world comes close to real life after all.Best to all, Clay http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...ers/Dopke01.jpg

Sorry Clay, I have to dissagree here big time. I think your statement is an open license for ALL of us developers to use that as an excuse. It's always been hard to make a buckThat's a knock back to the stone ages for a business. There's no room for professionalism there what so ever or accountability for at least commmon sense in your statment.I say this as a general statement for all developers and not reference the CS threads here.I also say this so that someone knows there are developers here in this community who have a simpler and more clear cut model for purchasing products. I do not want to have such a bad rap as developers before we even get a chance to release our first aircraft.I'm also not going to let our potential livelyhoods get knocked backed into a freeware arena either. You and everyone else can be rest assured that whenever I see people taking the far left and the far right on these issues, I will be here to try and put what I think is the correct perspective on the situation.I still love ya though :-)Edit: Mike T, you hit it right on.

:-lol I don't believe they can either but the CS 757 has the Pitot Heater off by default. I challenge anyone to fly into a cold cloudy air mass with this bird and find the heater working as advertised.

The 757 cockpit and 767 cockpit are virtually identical in real life. Matter-a-fact, the type rating for these two AC are the same as well (a 767 pilot can fly a 757). Just what type of cockpit did you expect?...rofl. Get your facts straight before posting crap.-=MAB=-EDIT: Jeff, your a moron when it comes to planes. Your posts clearly show this.

I cannot seem to find anything explaining how the VC is non functional and all buttons open up a 2d panel popup. please help me find this, thanks

Alex's comments aren't very well put at all, in fact their rather stupefied with no real justification. Why not give another developer the benefit of the doubt, have variety, and see a different take on the same real world design. Although I hate multiple developers doing the same birds, I can appreciate a well done effort by multiple parties. I own both the PSS and Altitude Concords. I can appreciate and fully backup statements made by simmers like Dillon who did an extensive review on the two. I also own both the DreamFleet and CS 727. I can see where CS got many things right and some major things wrong.CaptainSim is the best in the business for graphics. They make the best models around both inside and out. CS's 727 VC still looks better than DreamFleet's offering to me. I wish CS would update that bird...So the point here is just because some of us carry the LDS banner doesn't make us CoolAid drinkers who blindly follow one developer without giving another a try. In order to make an educated and informed comparison of different add-ons means you need to know what you
