April 25, 200620 yr i'm starting to get into the different airports around the world and am wondering which are your favorites or best in your opinion and why. after reading a few threads, watching some videos of some landings at kia tak and reading some magazines named Airports, i am hooked on flying into as many as i can. wanting to experience all the different approaches in all sorts of weather at all the biggest and baddest airports around. i think kia tak is VHHX? and is no longer in operation from what i understand but is listed in FS9. is it completely closed or in use for smaller operations? this brings me to kansai. i think it's called VHHH? that's how they are listed in FS9 if i'm looking in the correct area of hong kong. i just want to know which is which. just from taking a quick spins around the area all i can say is it's a big city with alot of buildings and mountains. could be a fun approach at night in bad weather. i don't hear much about kansai, how come? right, it's sinking but still in operation i think. looks like a nice airport to come into but no one talks about it. still over shadowed by kia tak? the magazine called Airports is about all the different airports around the world with some very interesting info on each. really good mag. there are tons of cool airports all over and i'd like to hear what you have to say about any of them. william
April 26, 200620 yr Here are a few good ones to try.KONT - Ontario,CA - on the Ziggy3 Star. Have fun slowing down in time for approach.SEQU - Quito, Ecuador. 9000+ ft. elevation. Mark. Mark CYYZ
April 26, 200620 yr Hi William,If you are interested in "bad" as in "dangerous" check out:http://www.dangerousairports.org/mx/index.phpHope this helps.
April 26, 200620 yr Kansai is in Japan! I think it's ICAO code is RJBB. The new Hong Kong Airport retains the VHHH code and is Chep Lap Kok (sp?). Graeme Butler
April 26, 200620 yr its too bad but VHHX is completely gone, torn down and they're building on its land already! My favorite difficult approaches are LOWI, KONT, KSAN, KLAX (too much traffic!), KBUR (short runway), KMDW (same short runway problem)
April 26, 200620 yr Yeah I fully agree, KMDW is a killer. Does not look bad on paper but putting a 737 in the middle of a neighbourhood is cool AND difficult... Al Stiff
April 26, 200620 yr If you think that's bad try putting a Flight1 Super80 in the middle of a neiborhood (KMDW Runway 4R)... ;-) FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
April 26, 200620 yr Another dangerous approach is the Expressway Runway 31 approach at KLGA, although not a International Airport. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d

Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.
April 26, 200620 yr Kansai (RJBB) is in Japan, nowhere near Hong Kong. I think you mean Chek Lap Kok (VHHH)which is the new Hong Kong International airport. Kai Tak is completely closed and demolished I think. Like Meigs field it only live on in our virtual worlds.
April 26, 200620 yr Try taking off in a GA aircraft from El Alto in La Paz Bolivia 13313ft elevation. Talk about thin air. You better be light or you barely get off the ground.
April 26, 200620 yr This may not be international, but nevertheless a fav and hard airport to land.KASE (Aspen Colarado). Try the VOR DME approach in IFR (IMC).http://www.avweb.com/news/airman/184931-1.htmlhttp://www.airnav.com/airport/KASEManny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
April 26, 200620 yr There is a freeware TNCM (St Martin, Carribbean) The approach over the beech is superb!Paul.
April 26, 200620 yr geez I was tired last night. how could I forget TNCM? yes a great freeware scenery in the library as well as a great addon for the surrounding hotels
April 26, 200620 yr well what's it doing over there? actually i really knew where kansai was, i just wanted to see if everyone else knew.:-) thanks, william
