Error while updating ngx and 737

Featured Replies

I have installed the ngx and 737 updates via the operation center.
Suddenly the installation program closed with an error message.
Something with "can not find file/directory". I clicked "OK" (mistake from me) and error message dissapears.
I want to see the error again and hoped to be able to reinstall the update, but it is said that I have already installed the most recent ones.
How can I see what went wrong? Or, how can I redo the update?

If the OC says you have the current verions, 8869, and when you launch your simulator and the NGX loads and works okay then I'm not sure what was giving you an error message.  There is an OC log file you can look at, it is located in the appdata\roaming\pmdg directory.

I'll send you ten bucks if you can prove that is your real name or you are just a... well, what your name says you are.

I find your first reaction helpful.

But about your second ...
I'm sorry, but I think that's an offending remark. I do not have to prove anything.
I meet the forum rules, as you always demand from everyone.

Offense is only taken. Never given. It is your choice to be offended or not offended.

...and you do need to use your real name in the forum. I can’t see signatures on mobile browser versions, but I’m guessing Dan thinks you’re using a fake name. If it’s your real name, then let it go. If I don’t find that name in our database, though...

WOW, you guys jumped on him hard about his name. Even Robert has helped him in the past with product support. A quick name search and user history will show he appears to be legit.

To Kyle's defense, he was only trying to clarify Dan's point. With him being on his phone rather than his computer, he can't see signatures, so he certainly doesn't know the guy's name since it's in his signature rather than in his post. I don't know what the browser on the phone is capable of doing, but I imagine it's not easy trying to do anything on a phone versus a computer. When he does get back to a computer, though, he'll have to enter his name to pull up his order information.

My comment was more directed towards Dan's comments. Everyone's name shouldn't have to follow a certain format to not be questioned or challenged. Especially if they have a past history of support and a legit user.

Was this comment really necessary "I'll send you ten bucks if you can prove that is your real name or you are just a... well, what your name says you are"? Someone owes somebody $10.

I'm not disputing that, but to be fair, you did say:

Seeing as Dan and Kyle were the only two people who had commented on it, you can't really fault me for thinking you were addressing both of them.

I'm curious about the version numbers after applying the latest update. My P3Dv4 737NGX product says 8869 for the base package but 8465 for the 600/700 expansion. The OC reports that both are up to date. I ask because the forum post about the update mentions eliminating come CTD issues that had cropped up. During my first flight since the update, flying the 737-700NGX I had a CTD. I had just switched to an external view and noticed that the engine sounds were missing. I could hear wind sounds but no engine sounds, a couple of seconds later, CTD. There have been no other recent changes to my sim platform which had been exceedingly reliable up to this point.

The Gentleman in question has been an Avsim member since 2008, also his first name is pronounced different from the cartoon character that you are alluding too.

Not everybody on here is from the good old US of A, and in this instance you have been very insulting.

What if your wrong ? I would expect you would make a public apology at the very least, and the 10 bucks.

Too late to edit, but @downscc you may be interested to know the name you so eloquently refereed to as allegedly  fake is a Dutch name.

When you see a non English name spelt like an English name, don't assume it is pronounced the English way.

To brush this off as "Let it go" does not sit with me very well either .

I know your well known in the FS circles Dan, but on this occasion you have clearly embarrassed your self.

I agree but don't see him getting one from either one. Thats just the way they roll in this forums unfortunately.

Though it might sound amusing in English, the man has a perfectly legitimate first name in the Dutch language. I found several online examples of other residents of the Netherlands with the same name.

I'm sure Dan meant well, but I can understand why the OP would take offense - especially when that is compounded by an official PMDG representative then potentially questioning his status as a legitimate product owner, and making a veiled threat - that just compounds the problem.

Saying "let it go" is not a good response. Especially from someone like yourself, who is multi-lingual, and therefore should be more "culturally aware" of the fact that perfectly legitimate words in one language may mean something else entirely in English.

I take the time to tap out the fact that I'm on a mobile browser - while on a phone, where everyone knows tapping extra stuff out is something people don't do lightly - to make it known I couldn't see the name being referred to at all.

...and instead of doing something helpful like posting the name, or perhaps simply explaining it, I come back to lectures that ignore the fact that I couldn't see it.

Love you guys. ❤️

In the 24 hours since the original comment by Dan calling out the user you could have also come back in and checked on what was going on in a real browser. Even if we did say what was going and his real name or explained it, your just now getting back to this post 24 hours later. Don't put it on us for the comments made since you last checked back or If it’s your real name, then let it go statement 24 hrs later. Besides your PMDG and Dan has close ties to you folks so were the ones that are in the wrong. Instead of Dan apologizing to the OP due to his Dutch name were at fault?
