PMDG Release Procedures

Featured Replies

Hello captains,

As I, and likely most of you out there, we are all getting really excited for the 747-8. However, I've never actually been part of an actual PMDG product going live on an the exact release date. I've always just bought it after I've heard about it from other people a few days after it's released. Does Rob usually put up a big post in the forum when it goes live? Or would we just keep checking until we see a price tag that's under $325,000,000 😂

I know this post sounds kinda geeky but I'm really excited and want to know the moment it's posted 😀

Thanks and happy landings!

Yes, it is really hard to get informed if PMDG releases something. There is no single line in forums or sim-news, even not here on the PMDG forum. It's a real pity.

Hint: the price of 325.000.000 will drop now every day for 100$ … so if you will see 100$ left, you have the releaseday.

What else have Robert‘s announcements been then?

He has always announced every release approximately 1 week before, telling about not yet announced features, future update plans, some jokes, thanks to the teams and so on. Also most releases have been on thursdays. And again, none of them have been NOT announced. Until then: patience, young padawans.

It took me years but I believe I figured it out. It is quite complex.

We all know about the price tag and the beta screenshots, but that's only part of the release procedure. Once the price has been put up, a big meeting takes place with all the beta testers. There is a complex pattern in which each of them releasing screenshots carries a hidden message. So for example, if you see a series screenshots of landing aircraft, it does mean we are within a month to release BUT the pictures need to show the aircraft from left to right. If it shows a go around or a takeoff this means a major discrepancy has been found and it is nowhere to be released. Once they are all set, there is a meeting with Mathjis Kok from Aerosoft. This to start a series of spoofing manœuvres with all kind of announcements and ranting for Aerosoft products that are going to be released "soon" when in fact they are not even in production. The scheme can get really complex, as sometimes they really have to start working on the product because a demand really comes for the fake hidden PMDG announcement with the Aerosoft announcement.

Tracking so far? It's not done yet.

The final touch-up is the army of supposed fans that are paid by PMDG so they go on various forums asking for release dates. This creates a good hype for the few real simmers that are on AVSIM (last census was 17 real people on this forum, the thousand other members are PMDG slaves run by Russian bots).

Then, for the final release, PMDG has a contract with NASA so they can use their servers power for the billions of downloads that are going to happen in a matter of minutes.

First product they ever released more than a decade ago they teamed up with the Russian space agency, but PMDG stuff was so powerful that the Mir Space Station went down (nobody was injured in the process).

So in the end, the pattern is very clear here, since the last PMDG announcement drilled a hole in the Soyuz module that was going to the ISS, I am fairly confident that release is close.

Got it?

Well, if AVSIM goes down, there's a good chance that PMDG has released!

Now if PMDG could only synchronize their releases with a major event like Lockheed does with the P3D update/Pete Dawson-on-vacation release synchronization, then we'd all know when the release was imminent.
