I am pretty sure that Ed is right (I cannot beleive I am agreeing with him but there ya go).

XP is popular... more than it was last year. Is it more so than P3D/FSX?  Certainly not when it comes to sales generated by the same product numbers.  In the same amount of time, for the same product, sales on the C310 were less than half on XP than they were on P3D/FSX.  That's a fact.

I'm not sure that I would consider doing a XP only product at this point...

You're only proving to me that your payware is experiencing the XP11 user "freeware hangover". As more and more high quality add-ons hit the market for XP,  the user base will grudgingly decide to pay for aircraft, scenery and other add-ons. I've had XP for several versions now and other than one payware aircraft, I didn't buy any other payware until this past year.

Yes your post is right on.  XP fanbase seems to care more about flight dynamics than looks, AND there is some decent freeware.  I think up until recently many users were reluctant to pay for addons.  Also, just imho, developers should be careful with their pricing strategies...  you definitely don't want to charge what you do for P3D/FSX in XP11...

When I started with XP10 I was basically disgusted with the quality of VC's and models overall.... but now in XP11, they've gotten far far better and actually up to payware standards.  For those thinking there are no good GA addons.... try vFlyteAir TwinComanche, Justflight Arrow, and HotStart TB900.  The Milviz T310 xp rendition is always good too.  There's plenty of other options like Carenado C210 with REP, C172/REP, and the JRollon recently released SF260.

I cannot get my head round why XP fans take great pleasure in posting in the P3D forum about there sim, I have never posted or read the XP forums and I'm not just talking about avsim forums you see on other sites including FSX, I get the impression it`s to wind some users up.

Funny you should say that;  I have similar thoughts regarding P3D users who post on the FSX forum.  :-)

Which is chicken feed to LM.

They didnt start P3D for pensioners and teenagers, they started to make mega bucks of the military

You have missed my point again.  We all understand what LM is and what they do.

Well yes Lockheed Martin is a military contractor company, however as with many big corporations they have different departments each with its own objectives and goals.

I would say it is uncommon to see military contractors being interviewed by news media like FSELITE and Redit, it is also uncommon to see military contractors engaging with customers via public forums (P3D forums) and using their suggestions to improve products and lastly it is very unusual to see military contractors attending flying simulation expositions, being interviewed by radio media broadcasters, video media broadcaster, flying simulation magazines, etc, showing their faces to thousands of users, and taking the dedicated time to visit each exhibitor booth to shake the hands of 3rd party content developers / hardware vendors to listen to our ideas, feedback and requests.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I will respect that, but personally I have definitely never received such warm welcome by others flying simulator developing houses (XP, FSW, Dovetail, Microsoft, etc.) or even by any other big software developing firm on my last 25+ years of developing career.

So I tend to disagree about how people perceive Lockheed Martin in terms of it commitment with the platform and the flying simulation community, they do listen and will continue bringing new amazing changes for everyone to enjoy.

Kind Regards,

Yeah,  I don't get that either @Bobsk8   In fact,  most VA flyers I'm aware of don't even use VATSIM.  They press buttons to communicate with ATC.

Now have a chance to make a longer post on my PC, versus my phone, The main reason that VA pilots don't use Vatsim for the one's that don't. is the problem I cited in my previous post. There aren't any controllers most of the time, where your VA flight is flying. I fly a different route every day, almost never the same route twice in many months. For instance, right now I am flying the Q400 for KLGA to CYUL. Guess how many controllers are available along the route I am flying, ..... Try Zero.... Is this unusual, nope, , it is the typical norm.  Now if you get excited about flying a transport plane, using Unicomm from Clearance, to Taxi to Gate after landing, then Vatsim is fantastic. Not my cup of tea frankly. Then I think about some of my most memorable Vatsim flights, for instance,  where I am over the airport at 10,000 feet AGL in a 737, directed by VATSIM ATC, and the controller clears me for the ILS ,,,,,LOL  Thanks but no thanks. I would rather have a root canal.  😉

I’m waiting for Orbx to finish TrueEarth Great Britain South for P3D. We will then have a large region to compare directly between P3D and XP11 and with their payware airports inside too. I’ll wager there will be a bunch of comparison videos between both sims and one will look infinitely better than the other with smoother FPS as well. That is going to get a bunch of tongues wagging.
