I tried the above suggestions and I believe it worked for me. Now I can have Live ATC in the background for chatter and P3D isnt lowering the sound of the sim

my problem, isnt my sim sounds lowering they stay fine, my problem is sound being lowered in other apps running, discord-youtube-spotify when anything comes in on the radio in the plane. will be group flying chatting with friends on discord-then recieve radio chatter and the volume in discord auto lowers to point where cant hear my friends talking to me, or listening to a video or music and sound auto lowers to where cant hear the video or music, then can shut down p3d and those sound levels come back up is there a setting that can be turned off that auto lowers the volume in apps that are trying to run along with p3d and monitor while running p3d?

I have the same problem, Didn't find any solution so far... This problem cames after the 1809 update in win10.

This issue comes and goes on my Creative sound card.  I stream background music and it will go very quiet when there is ATC activity.

The next time I start P3D it may not happen.

This is one advantage of running ancillary software like ATC, weather etc on a second networked PC--the audio can be managed separately.

The Windows 10 1903 update seems to have fixed it for me (don't think this version is widely available yet but should be in May). I originally rolled back to version 1809 due to some other issues but found the sound issue had worsened. I found a fix for some of my other 1903 issues and reinstalled and so far it's been pretty good.

It returned in my case with the last Creative update some days ago. Still the only thing that works for me (but then at least kept this way) is: go to the panel where you can select "do nothing" and once select "lower volume 50%" and click apply and then again on "do nothing" and click apply. I do not know, why Creative still has so many issues with their drivers for Windows 10 (actually, my Soundblaster Z is still actively sold but has no official W10 driver, ridiculous).
