January 6, 20197 yr Still no rain effects for the -400 in the VC in P3D v4.4 and the Operations Center advertises an update in P3D v4 for the -400 which, once applied, pops up recurrently as a notification. Edited January 6, 20197 yr by LecLightning56
January 6, 20197 yr Author Commercial Member Paul, If it is popping up recurrently, then that tells me you likely aren't succeeding with the update. You can grab the full installer from your eCommerce account and try that- or you can take a look at the log file from your Operations Center Updater and see what the snag might be. It might be a really easy something... Log is located at c:/users/<user account>/AppData/Roaming/PMDG/PMDG Operations Center/Update/pmdg_updater_log.txt Robert S. Completely reinstalling the -400 for P3D v4.4 by download from my eCommerce account has been successful in visualizing the VC rain effects, but the Operations Center still thinks that the Version 3194 update is available but clearly this has already been applied. Incidentally, when you do apply this bogus update, it is noted that 0KB of data have been installed in the accompanying update window. No clues from the log file as to what the problem is with the bogus notification. Whilst on the subject of the VC rain effects and forgive me for being pedantic, but I do note that, under static conditions on the ground, the rain droplets (not swept by the windscreen wipers!) remain attached to the windscreen and do not drop down of their own accord (leaving a trail of their presence on the windscreen). This is the observed behaviour in reality and I am wondering if you are aware of this and perhaps intend to develop the rain maker software to accommodate a more natural look to things in the future. January 6, 20197 yr Robert, I have the -400 and it happens that, when I am steady or at low speed on the runway, I see the raindrops on the windshield. As soon as the speed increases above a certain value, they disappear completely, even on the side windows. Is that correct? Thanks. James Goggi
January 6, 20197 yr Hi Robert, I am having a problem with the OC and P3Dv4.4. After running the install from the Notifications window, the 744 version shows installed version as 3.00.9019 and the available version as 3.00.9194 and the OC still saying that I have 1 notification. This seems to indicate repeatedly that the installation has not happened because a downloaded file has failed integrity-check.. I attach the relevant ending to the pmdg_updater_log.txt file. As soon as the speed increases above a certain value, they disappear completely, even on the side windows. Is that correct? Thanks. I have just watched a YouTube video of a real-world Boeing 777 landing at Paris in heavy rain and rain droplets do appear on the windscreen on the approach which are swept across the windscreen by the airflow and do occasionally leave traces of their presence across the windscreen itself. See for yourself and judge accordingly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1jFb8y8JmM Nature obviously determines that the raindrops are visible in flight on the windscreen and do leave streaks in their wake. Moreover, this video does also show an element of opaqueness on the windscreen due to the heavy rain when decelerating on the runway with the wiper valiantly clearing the view as quickly as possible. With the aircraft taxying the raindrops are definitely visible and do leave traces in their wake when they drop off the windscreen.
