January 11, 20197 yr I think he was just really excited about not having enough power! lol Safe & smooth flying, Clarke Ramsey
January 11, 20197 yr I got a bit over excited last night about de-rate calculations - so much so that I derated myself to the point that I only had about 500 feet of runway left at VR! That was scary... James W

That was scary... Been there done that 🙂 When we were testing this release I took a 8F from KPAE on a simulated delivery flight to Doha. The EFB was refusing to give me any derate calculations and was complaining about my weight, which was below the Maximum TOW... I decided to depart and realized why EFB was complaining, luckily no lights/ antennas or fences where harmed 🙂 Chris Makris PLEASE NOTE PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at http://forum.pmdg.com

August 10, 20196 yr I have made many derated takeoffs without much technical info before I tried it and sometimes it worked. I usually avoid derated takeoffs at airports like KEWR/29. When I was planning a derated takeoff at KMEM with a freighter using the ATM tool for the 748 I was much happier with the results. Eric Parker Eric Parker
August 11, 20196 yr You are insane if you're even trying a de-rated take-off on runway 29 at Newark in a Boeing 747-8. Captain Kevin Air Kevin 124 heavy, wind calm, runway 4 left, cleared for take-off. Live streams of my flights here.
August 11, 20196 yr Largest plane I've seen take off of 29 was a A300. Otherwise all other widebodies will use 22R for take off and landing. This summer I've only seen three 747s total at EWR. (LH 747 8 regularly, and far less regularly, Air China and UPS) On topic, I'm looking forward to EFBs in the other PMDG aircraft. No more alt tabbing! "I am the Master of the Fist!" -Akuma
