New Orlando from Orbx...

Featured Replies

Orbx seems to have fixed their Orlando Cityscape scenery.

It took only 4 minutes to install this morning.  The flight across the city and back from Orlando IAP was pretty amazing even with the reduced scenery items.  I flew in my Quest Kodiak at 2,000 ft and with my scenery settings averaged 14 to 19 FPS with minimal skips and no hesitations.  Granted my scenery settings are set for performance as opposed to super detail but it was a vast improvement over the last time I tried it with the original release.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

For Orlando that would only interest me if I flew very low, the resolution was incredible, and I could buzz backyard swimming pools where bikini tops had been shed in favor of tanning!

Frank...not sure if you want to see that. It's Orlando, not Vegas.

Just for information in a news article on the FSElite website about the Orlando update it says:

"Unlike other updates delivered through FTX Central, you must UNINSTALL the original version – do not “Update product”. This version requires the product to be a clean install."

This caught me out as I had already been on FTX Central before I read this and simply clicked the UPDATE button for Orlando City. I'm not sure if it makes any difference but one would have thought that Orbx should have included some instruction to this effect on the update page if it is important!

Have lived there previously and know the demographics associated with backyard pools...LOL

Would you post your system specs?  I am on the fence on P3D and would not start short of 4.4, true 64-bit basis, and so am watching and learning.

You and I have essentially the same system Frank. My frame rate using the new FTX CityScape Orlando is in the 25-40 range with all the sliders on the high side. If I can help with anything just let me know. Once I moved to v4.4 I've never looked back. BTW, the tops aren't the only things the sun worshippers shed around here (I live just outside of Orlando) ..........Doug

One of my last flights I ever did as cabin crew was an Orlando.

It was one of the worsts hangovers I've ever had, followed by the longest 7 1/2 hours night flight I ever did.

It was some 10 years ago I remember it like yesterday, and her name was Vicky.... Halcyon days. Just don't tell the missus...
