AIG Wrong planes at different terminals?

Featured Replies

Hey,

I have downloaded all the files from AIG and just running it.  It is awesome.  Freeware and planes everywhere.

At times at a passenger terminal, I am seeing a UPS Cargo there (KSAN) and at KDCA I am seeing tons of AA planes on Terminal C where Southwest planes are.  I thought all these planes were close to Real world plans?

If the fix is long and complicated, I will skip.  I just want everything automatic and easy to go as my time is extremely limited.

Any ideas?

Have you looked at the parking assignments of the airports to see if they are setup that way? I use Littlenavmap, which will show you what carriers are assigned to each gate. You can also check them with ADE.

AI parking is not a function of the flight plan...and the only part the AI plane plays is the airline ID in the aircraft.cfg file.  Most issues are due to bad airline data or parking spot type assigned to the parking spots in the airport file (e.g. ADE/AFX/AFCAD).

ESP-based sims have always been flaky in how they park AI...this is a limitation of the sim itself.

check out the afcads sub-forum at AIG for the many "reworks / updates" of airport parking .... they correct many / most of the discrepancies you are seeing.

bottom line ...... airport scenery designers are notorious for paying little attention to the AI functionality.

for now, cheers

I wish there was an automatic way, but manually finding files and looking at ADE is not in the cards right now (have no free time to do that).

Thank you for the suggestion about the sub forums at AIG.  I will look at that for the airports that I am flying.

There are many updated AFD files shared in the AIG forums and all are VERY well done for various payware airports. AIG provides you with the awesome AI, it's up to you to have them park where you want them to.

How? I can't find any reference to this feature in LNM...

Can you help a fellow simaholic?

Just load up littlenavmap and zoom in to the gate and hover your mouse cursor over it for a couple of seconds. A tool tip will pop up and the airline codes using that gate will appear.

If the airport is full, then you may see a cargo plane at a passenger terminal if there are no free cargo spots available. The other alternative is that the UPS Cargo plane in question iis assigned to park at GATES in addition to CARGO RAMPS. As for the American Airlines planes parking at Terminal C.....this will be either because those gate parking spots also have the American Airlines (AAL) code assigned to them, or because (again) the airport is full, and those gates are the only free ones available.
