ATC : minimum, minimum

I would love to see user voice interaction with ATC so the user can communicate with ATC without having to use the keyboard.

That would be the ideal yes but sorry to rain on your parade, that will remain just a dream, MSFS won't feature that sorry, I also guess it will have no ATC at all.

Key word being "guess".  I guess FS2020 will have an ATC feature.  Are you right or am I?  No idea, because neither one of us knows any details at all about FS2020 except for what MS has told us so far.

I suggest to stop stating your "guesses" as absolutes and to instead wait to find out like the rest of us.

There always seems to be "that guy" in each thread, which is unfortunate. You literally know nothing more than what has been given to us by MS and to say with any authority that you are aware of the feature set when MS at this point is still likely determining what is in and out from a feature and feature detail perspective, is annoying at best.

F.I. Froogle has an opinion about MSFS 2020 very very very close to mine, we are the old school. GA pilots tend to be quite aggressive against who think MSFS will be nothing more than a quick banal meteor, that's easy to spot them.

Froogle's opinions and your assumptions do not make things factual.  We all have opinions, which is fine, but let's just wait and see what the next few months hold before stating things as fact - is my opinion.

"at best" is the key word. Trolling is closer to reality.

I bet there will be no ATC at all.

Anyway an ATC without the capability of instructing SID-STARS and which doesn't know the gps position of a plane in relation to its flight plan and the various options, that would be a totally useless and cosmetic ATC, just like the one of FSX, if you remember it was totally useless.

I understand where you're coming from, and I know you don't mean to bash the FSX ATC outright. Its that you are tired of a serious lack of single player offline ATC realism; me too.

Essentially if one thinks it through, compared to reality, the FSX ATC is very lacking, and for serious real world fliers, it is useless. At the same time FSX ATC does a pretty good job considering all the stuff it has to do.

MSFS will need to have ATC, and it will need to be much better than what we already have. The 'what we want' topic is filled with tons of requests about ATC and the features it needs to have.

it's really talking to say nothing .. and in addition it sends false information!

This would actually be great.  One of the reason I quit using ATC was that I couldnt respond quickly enough using eyesight and keystrokes to make the changes -- especially just after takeoff.  luckily it seemed to work - at least in FS9.  I dont remember what was wrong with FSX's ATC that made me give up but something did.

- its inability to throw a curveball (like reducing speed, ordering a hold pattern)

This shouldn't just be a curveball, ATC should actually do proper traffic separation. Speeds and holds would just be a part of that.

Also enhancing AI to have a bit of random behavior or even failures/emergencies that ATC could handle would be really cool.

Similarly would be great if the user aircraft could divert or declare emergency and get support for that in ATC.

I'd also like to see a realistic flight plan clearance and readback where ATC might need to make changes in order to manage traffic flow

I've heard VoxATC does this.

Any features not in the base sim can be added by third party developers.

Hopefully voice recognition has made some progress, the VoxATC demo voice recognition was working rather erratically some years ago. My French accent 😂 ?

Doesn't VoxATC use Windows voice recognition?  You should be able to train it to understand your accent.

I used to use a voice command program back in Windows XP for Silent Hunter 3.  It would also transcribe dictation.  Before I trained it to my voice it wrote some amusing things.

(BTW - it's They're)

Rubbish - they're both so bad - not to mention P3D.

Time for a total re-invent of ATC.

Actually it's "they're", "there", or "their" but it's off topic anyway. 😃
