New Orbx Central v4.0 now available to download

Recommended Posts

I wonder if that means the other type of backup also won't work? (the one you get when you tell it to download and install and make a backup)

It's a shame that a company like ORBX, whose products I really love and use every day, is making the upgrade to it's own system so unreliable and difficult.

In this day and age, moving from one version of a system SHOULD BE a simple click and verification asking if that's what you want to do.  Is SHOULD NOT wipe things out, infringe upon the users time significantly, and make a THREAD like this one go 5 pages outlining many simmers frustrations.

After all, we are using a product that will add to a company's profit and viability.

I guess that's all I have to say...and I will be a non-buyer of ORBX products until they resolve this issue and not inconvenience me to such a great extent.

Totally agree with you...

It feels like things are getting over the Orbx head lately : TE GB with still FPS issues over London because these 3M building blocks instead of adding them by the CP in 25% / 50% / 75% / 100%.

And now with their FTX Central 4, which they did only test with Orbx products installed...

Imho a little sloppy ...

Oh what a mess. With this new invention of Orbx, it is then at all possible to change the scenery order?. Is it possible to deactivate scenery?. I have all my scenery installed with the xml method and what I understand I cant change anything. No scenery can be deactivated with huge loading times as a result. Will we be able to get any help from Addon Organizer otherwise I do not know ...

Which means that I and many others that have used the manual download method offered by ORBX  (although not recommended) are stuck with having to download many gigabytes of data again , at a cost for us and for you...

Orbx really made this decision???  You've got to be kidding me.  Unreal.

People are going to blow through their data caps re-downloading everything again.

IMHO......The ONLY thing that will correct all of this is to boycott ORBX.  That's what I will do until it is all made easy and reliable to upgrade.....with very minimal effort.  I can live very easily with what I have now and buy scenery from some other vendor.  NO UPGRADE for me at this time with ORBX.  Money talks!

After they forced FTC Central 3.0 onto everyone I froze my system with FTX Central 2.0 and have not bought anything since. Although I do like their products, just not the way they make them available. Living out in the country with limited band width was the real show stopper for me. If I want to buy one airport I should be able to download that airport and install it manually, I don't need or want FTX Central, wish they would of given us a choice.

Cheers

Martin

Absolutely agree to all of this. I have downloaded all installation files before because I was never able to achieve proper download speeds with FTX Central. Until all issues are solved I will not be buying any new product.

All add-ons installed via the XML method can easily be de-activated in a couple of ways. In the Prepar3D Scenario screen via the Add-Ons button at the bottom, or - once your flight is loaded - via the menu: Options -> Add-ons.

It's been like that for a while.

I also stopped buying from ORBX.

In addition to imposed policies, I no longer like performance.

Priority photoscenery are today. Of course there are costs. I had to spend money on two SSD.

But there is a big plus. Stuttering disappeared and FPS increased.

And of course a real photo under the wing!

I only purchase for P3DV4XX and nothing has been released that interest me for months I am not a GA flyer and have no interest in the TE series. and the OLC seems to keep being pushed back for other more important thing like XP, so I will stay with FTX Central 3.

I guess that I will be forced to upgrade when TrueEarth GB Central is released for P3D v4, as that is the scenery package at the very top of my wanted list.
