The Learjet 35A version 4.2g is now available

Featured Replies

Installed the bird yesterday (4.2D from simmarket) and after two short flights, I can say: it runs very well, no difference regarding fps (just my impression, no measurement). Livery, cockpit, even the sounds... the whole thing a real improvement !

Some questions remaining:

  • C&D : generator, antiskid and jet pump switches remain on after selecting "all systems off". Bug or a feature ?
(Until now, I've added to my checklist to switch them off before starting the whole thing).

  • Jet pumps: as "Flying the classic learjet" states "the jet pumps are usually left on all the time" - does this mean even after shutdown ?

  • Yaw damper: I use a switch of my throttle quadrant to engage left or right YD. It is done by FSUIPC calling a native sim function (means: no LUA). Now I can engage both YD's simultaneously - but I read, only one YD should be engaged at a time.
Is this a bug of the sim, of the learjet or could this happen in reality, so it's the pilot's responsibility not to engage both YD's ? (In the first two cases, I have to write a LUA for the YD engagement so only one can be active at a time)

Hi Folks,

Anyone have any thoughts on the effectiveness of the spoilers - seems a tad light - no ? No RW experience - just in comparison to other FS aircraft I’ve used...

Regards,

Scott

Scott,

One change in the spoilers is they only open part way in flight, and all the way with weight on the wheels.

Hi Richard,

I just tried shutting down the plane "myself" and everything still works -- chocks, engine covers, etc. If you can get things to work when using the shortcut "All Systems Off" feature, then I suspect you are not shutting everything down as needed. For example, if you don't put the generators back to the off position, you won't be able to set the chocks, etc. Try comparing switch positions after using "All Systems Off" to what you are doing "by hand" to see if you notice any differences.

Al

The generators back to off did the trick...😎

Thank you Al,

Richard

The shutdown issue only happen after a flight, if you do it static on the ramp (startup and shutdown again) it does not come up.

I'll post the steps to reproduce the load manager issue later.

Matthias,

I just tried a short 50 NM flight. After landing, shutting everything down, raising the flaps and setting the parking brake everything worked correctly with the payload manager and the chocks, engine covers, etc, as I reported above. Hopefully others will report what they are seeing as well.

Ok, regarding the load manager. I start P3Dv4 with the default F22, then select airport to start from and the Lear. Start the scenario. The airplane will load up with engines running, so I hit the C&D button. Total weight is then stated as 16978 pounds.

Now I want to change the loadout. Clicking any of the fuel presets won't affect the total weight of the aircraft, also adjusting tanks individually does not change the total weight figure. When adding a load on the pax seat, the weight then is updated, INCLUDING the fuel weight.

If you select a different fuel load, and enter the P3D fuel and load dialogue, and then hit either ok or cancel, the total weight figure is also updated accordingly.

I'll now do a flight and report on the external objects.

Regards.

Matthias,

I see the same thing as you describe above.

The Total Weight displayed by the Lear's Payload Manager is simply an Avar variable supplied directly by the sim. So maybe it is not surprising that accessing the sim via the P3D Payoad function initiates the update of that variable. What I don't understand at this point is why changing the passenger load does initiate updating the Total Weight Ava,r but changing the fuel does not. I've been looking at the Lear's Payload Manger code and don't see a difference in form between how passenger weight is updated and how the fuel weight is updated, so I'm not sure where the problem is -- yet.

Ok, just landed and made sure everything was shut down properly, and it indeed seems I missed to switch the gens to off out of bad habit. Once off, the external objects display properly- once gens are on, they are removed. Thanks Al for the heads-up. This was on my end.

Good to see it's reproducable. My workaround for now is to first load the fuel, then the pax, so I get a valid readout.

I have a coding fix for the fuel manager not updating the total fuel correctly, but it is not what I'd call 'eloquent'. I'll do a little more investigating to see if I can come up with something more 'satisfying', but at least it will work if I can't find a better solution. I also want to check with Mark to see what ideas he might have.

OK Matthias, I have what I think is a good fix for the fuel manager issue. PM me an email address and I'll send you a cab file to beta test.

Hi!

Tonight I received a message from Flysimware store about a new update - 4.2e. What were the changes after 4.2d. fixed the Load Manager? Or something else?

Installer file name says ver 4.2e, but when I look in Program and Features after the install it says ver 4.2d, so don't know what has happened, unless the problem is something I've done. In any case it doesn't seem to have the Payload Manager fix. I'll check into things more later this afternoon, don't have time now.

Latest word from FSW is Lear ver 4.2f will go out to the stores sometime today or tonight. It will have the fix for the Payload Manager issue discussed above.

I downloaded the LJ 35A today from PC Aviator--that installer still noted 4.2a. Do the updated versions of this aircraft have installers that reflect the correct version and update (i.e. version 4.2f)? Just wondering because I already have 4.2a installed and have not been able to download any of the updated versions beyond 4.2a from PC Aviator.

Thanks,

Raymie

Some, but not all installer files have the ver # as part of the exe filename like this:

FLYSIMWARE_LEARJET_35A_V4.2e.exe.

A good way to check what version you have is to look at Programs and Features in the Win10 Control Panel. You should see entries like this:

b2017d143e.JPG

Finally, when you run FSW's new installer it will tell you what version you are about to install.
