VR Inclusion in MSFS

We do however represent a bunch of more or less guaranteed first day purchasers to get things off to a nice start, and in that respect are worth being on the good side of. The silliness comes when we start entertaining the notion that we are a big enough tail to wag the dog.

I’ll grant this, but honestly not sure if it’s that true either if I’m being honest.

I’m seeing MSFS news and excitement in so many unexpected corners of the internet that are nowhere near aviation/FS niche enthusiast related that I think they’ll have a home run on day one, Avsim types onboard or not..

Besides, we have many here saying they’ll be staying with P3D for a good long while.  Lol - we’ll just see about that. 😉

Hard drives are cheap. Even with MS2020 in hand, I see no reason at all to start deleting other sims...... (especially if MS2020 doesn't have vr) 😈

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

For sure - to each their own.

I’m just a bit skeptical that they’ll be this new hotness with gorgeous graphics across the globe and people will be super excited about firing up P3D at that point...  Could be!  Not me though.  Lol

My NVMe’s are cleaned up already and I’m keeping occupied with other games and interests while keeping tabs on the MSFS news.

It's funny how all this started with the question , "what feature do you want.?" And "they" turn it around to "what feature do you want first?" Lol and we never said we want it first, "they" said that

Also, VR is so critical for many of us because it’s literally the primary interaction method with the entire experience.

Seasons, ATC, many other things - sure I want all those, but I have no interest in any of it unless I’m experiencing the sim through VR.

I think if people haven’t really gotten into VR simming, they don’t understand quite how revolutionary it is and how different the entire experience really is.  It makes you want VR or nothing really (as we know).

I'm a member of zillions of flightsim groups, including Reddit, which does nothing (I believe) to undermine me as a member of Avsim or affect my ability to vote here. Nor does it say anything negative about my commitment to flight simulation.

The user in question posted on EVERY VR subreddit the same "call to arms" style request for VR enthusiasts to go vote in the poll here.  There were about 10 of these posts.  That is quite literally spam (in the context of cross-posting).  If a user created the SAME subject on 10 different Avsim forums at the same time, they would be warned, or possibly even banned and their threads closed/deleted.

Ignoring this information completely changes the context of the discussion.  I posted links to several of these posts in the thread that was shut down, another user actually gathered all of them (there were like 10) and posted them for all to see.

As for your analogy regarding FSW, the analogy is flawed:

1) reddit VR users are by no means guaranteed to purchase MSFS because their primary motivation is VR, not flight simulation

2) Avsim users visiting the FSW forums on Steam are interested in flight simulation, first and foremost, and are therefore (were) likely to purchase FSW - heck, I even purchased it

I'm honestly not perturbed. If I heard that somebody had posted the exact same "Call to arms" in non-vr related forums to come and support the inclusion of ATC/AI, I would yawn exactly as widely. In fact, it's what I expected.

1) Even non-vr users are not guaranteed to purchase this sim. Many might simply not have the bandwidth, or a machine capable of running it at an acceptable level. There are no guaranteed purchasers defined solely by community affiliation and there never will be. Possibly it could define likelihood of a purchase, but I would not even bet on that, as an absolute given.

2) Yet our supreme pickiness stopped us from purchasing it in numbers high enough to make it a financial success. Maybe they should have listened to people asking for vr instead of aiming so solidly at this small community......?

Better? Now if one person were to post the same thing over and over again. But nobody has

1) The guarantee was not the point, the point was that people who don't give a rip about flight sim are coming here to vote on a poll about flight sim - not a VR poll, a flight sim poll, at a flight sim forum.  These are not hardcore simmers, and are therefore indisputably less likely to purchase MSFS.

2) Don't include me in your group here, I bought FSW and wanted it to succeed.

Where on earth are you getting your facts?

I repeat, the people who voted, according to a mod, were already by and large members of the forum, which by definition, makes them a part of the group of human beings interested in aviation. Whether they are hardcore, softcore, medium core or side and polka-dot core is absolutely irrelevant. They had a right to vote and did so.

Their motivations for doing so are not apparent to me, as I claim no psychic powers, even by implication.

Heck, some of the people reading those posts may have come here and voted for ATC. Who knows?

Where do I get my facts?  I've already linked to numerous reddit posts to outline the basis for my argument. Where in the world do you get your facts?  All you've done so far is state your opinion and make a vague appeal to authority without even taking the time to cite a post.

"by and large already members of the forum"

Unquantified, vague statements like this are no better than opinions.

Just because the system (in this case the forum rules) allowed a bunch of outsiders to sign up for accounts and not bring any value to this community, doesn't mean that is the best outcome for the community.  Were you to apply this mentality to flight sim you would still be using Flight Simulator 1.0.

When you find a flaw in the system, you should fix it, rather than say "well, it always worked up until now so there can't be anything wrong with it!"

For record, every "new member" is placed in a "Moderation Queue" until they've had FIVE approved posts. If their very first post is obviously "Spam" they are summarily sent to permanent detention, no exceptions.

Registering only to post in a poll is not considered "Spam" so their posts are nearly always approved for posting.

BTW, in addition to the above MQ requirement, there are in-depth checks to ensure they have no history as a previously banned member, and do not appear on any of the various "spammer" lists.
