VR very obviously needs to be a launch feature and something MS touts, highlights and rightly raves about. This new engine and these spectacular graphics deserve VR. October 5, 20196 yr Explain to me how reaching for imaginary buttons is realistic? How is a pilot supposed to go from VR training to real world flying? How is he going to learn navigating ILS, GPS? How is he going to use the garmin or read approach plates with a VR helmet on? The point of a simulator is to replicate the actual cockpit so one can transition from the simulator to the real thing. VR would be a bit like flying with TrackIR which I found cumbersome trying to fly instruments...and nothing destroys the simming experience like "mouse flying". I realize they have "hands on" vive or whatever but you cannot compare it to having a physical panel LIKE REAL PLANES DO. Edited October 5, 20196 yr by Flybynumbers

I don’t believe that’s an explicit goal of MSFS products, so it’s a bit of a straw man. And honestly, if it’s not a full blown Level D simulator, all simulations are making sacrifices in order to maintain feasibility or cost or any number of other factors.
October 5, 20196 yr Anyway...why is everyone getting so bent out of shape? All I said was VR was more geared to stick and rudder flyers...not so much for navigation. Edited October 5, 20196 yr by Flybynumbers
October 5, 20196 yr VR will come to MSFS but don't think you would want it half baked and buggy, 10 years from now VR tech may do away with the need for PC, Game console, or TV, just a headset and 5g wifi steaming. Raymond Fry.
October 5, 20196 yr I know, even we are still learning. Yes writing < 270 svm ^ 5000 S 1200 135.15 Is strange at first with the oculus touch in avitab . It can be done. You just gotta do it.
October 5, 20196 yr If I had $100,000 + I would have 3 full cockpits in the basement. 1. Boing 2. Beechcraft 3. Cessna Oh I dont have to. And I can still get up , open the cockpit door and walk around the plane. Lol

October 7, 20196 yr OK, this thread is back up after most of a day with technical problems that wouldn't allow it to be brought back online. That said, there were a good number of demeaning, off-topic, and argumentative posts hidden from view...we don't need the insults and personal slams at people that don't agree with one point of view or the other w/r/t VR. So discuss, but please cease with the inflammatory commentary. To each his own, but some VR gamers seemingly demand that DEVs bend to their will when VR users represent a small market share of gamers. Also, some VR gamers make bold statement like Non-VR gamers “don’t know what they are missing, etc.” I think that we Non-VRs know, and we generally don’t care for it. To me there are too many drawbacks to VR, like not being able to see the hardware buttons in the cockpit that I built. Finally, I don’t buy the “I won’t buy” threats & attitude in this thread…they will be the first in line to buy MSFS. MSFS is like the prettiest girl in high school who won’t give VR gamers the time of day. They will talk about how much they don’t like her etc., but when she walks buy, they will break their necks to get a glimpse, and give an arm and a leg to take her on the prom. I think that MSFS knows this as well, which is why they didn’t make VR a priority for the initial release. Edited October 7, 20196 yr by FlyBaby
October 7, 20196 yr So strange. If somebody at a car dealership said aloud "I won't buy anything without a v8 engine." I might glance their way, and internally go "Hmmmmm he likes big motors." and that would be it. Somebody else's choice would not affect me or my life in the slightest way. I can't really see the angst over other simmers making similar statements regarding their choice of important simulation features. The only way it really makes any sense to be perturbed or offended is if the other person's choice is perceived as a threat of some sort, in this case to those who feel their choices are somehow inherently more worthy. Honestly, not my problem. My preference stands, not more or less important in any way whatsoever than anyone else's, and barring a violation of the forums TOS, with just as much right to be heard. When a big game is developed priorities have to be set. Implementing VR in a satisfactory way is not an easy task. It requires many lines of new code and optimization. It's just not worth it to prioritize it for such a small target group. When it is implemented, it will be beautiful no question but we have to give the devs their time. When they feel like they can handle the task they will add it. Furthermore, what would be worse than a delayed release just because of VR? Edited October 7, 20196 yr by FlyerNYC
