XBox Version

According to the just-released XBOX promo, there is a provision in the new sim for color blind players (whatever that means).

Interesting that this post tells us that a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate ($14.99 per month) is necessary for Xbox users. Presumably there may be a similar requirement for PC users taking out a subscription.?

Even if a subscription is not compulsory for PC users it does make you wonder how much the price to buy the game might be. 😱

It seems that it will be available on that $14.99/month subscription but not that the subscription is required to play.

Those two things co-exist. On Xbox, you can buy games outright or use the game pass.

The developers have already said it won't be a subscription service, although it'll be part of the game pass if that's something you want.

I think they should go with the P3D or season pass model personally. You buy the game once and it's yours in it's released form forever. Then every year or two, release a major update or "new version" and charge a fee for it (but not full price like P3D does). That's how most software make recurring money these days and it's a fair way to do it so the developers can keep developing for years to come.

Are you referring to the second 30 of the video? Because in that case, I don’t understand that is required. I understand that will be available through that system.

Game pass doesn't cost $15, game pass ultimate does. With game pass ultimate you get xbox live gold + pc games + xbox games and with normal game pass you only get the games and you pay $10, But that doesn't mean that you need to pay game pass to play those games, You can buy a game that is on game pass in the normal microsoft store/steam(Standalone single time purchase).

The video specifically mentions Game Pass Ultimate is required as I heard it. YMMV.

She said "flight simulator is coming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate next year...". There's not a single game you need the game pass to play, all the games you can just buy on the store and play it as much as you want.

no Ultimate Game Pass needed on PC👍

I am still confused about the difference between the PC version and the Xbox version.  I am not able to watch the video at the moment so maybe it explains it there but being that I have simmed on a PC for years, the concept of having this on an Xbox is interesting to me.  Can someone explain?  Thanks

People really seem to be having a hard time with this. The Xbox Game Pass is like Netflix. You get access to a ton of games if you pay a monthly fee. That doesn't mean you can't still buy the movie on Amazon/Apple or a DVD. This is actually good for PC players because it will introduce a lot of newbies to the genre.

I imagine it means help with papi lights and such?

I also hope they include the option to disable the lightning flash in storms for photosensitive people.

I guess my confusion is in the sense of how simming works now.  In P3d for example, I have the ability to buy new scenery, planes, weather, etc. and download it on my PC.  The sims performance is based on my PC specs as well.  So would the Xbox version mean that performance would not be an issue unless I have poor downloads?  If buying a "PMDG type" aircraft (assuming there will be some), would this be done through the Game Pass?  Would my PC come into play at all?  That is where I am unsure.  Because in this sense, I think the Xbox would be the way to go in terms of performance.

We know nothing about the xbox version except it is coming after the PC one (months probably?).

Both on PC and Xbox all the calculations are done by your hardware. This is not like Google Stadia where all calculations are done in remote and what you get is a video feed (like watching a movie on Netflix). There will be a market place from which you can buy DLCs, but i bet the same addons will be sold on the individual developer sites or common flight sim stores online too.

Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."

First of all, forget game pass completely unless you have an X-Box and play a lot of other X-Box games. Really, almost everyone on AVSIM should just put it out of their mind altogether.

In general, up-to-date PCs always beat consoles. Sometimes console to PC ports are poorly optimized, but they're starting with the PC version.

We don't know much about add-ons yet, but there will be a presentation later this month, which suggests it will be an option. The real concern is that a lot of people in the community are worried that MS will take some of the share for addons, which is fine to me as long as it's reasonable. Add-on developers have gotten too used to paying nothing but if there is integration into a store it could be fair. Bottom line is we don't know much yet.
