An End to Tweaking / Maintenance

Featured Replies

One of the biggest Pro's to this sim could be the end to tweaking and maintenance, and the fact you can plan a flight A to B and just go.

I still expect (and want) settings in the menu to change on the fly.  And add-ons such as custom airports will sometimes need updating. But hopefully it won't be about config settings tweaks and sim restarts again and again to see if the blurries are fixed lol.

Adjust the sliders in the menu, plan it (anywhere) and the sim world is always up to date from the server.

Guess what.. It has never been that way with the MSFS series.. but nice thing to hope for

Guess what else, Asobo has never developed the "MS Flight Simulator".

Modern technology (everything is much more GPU bound) and their hopes to bring it to Xbox mean they don't have much of a choice but to end tweaking.

Honestly, I don't tweak in P3D or XP11 anymore either in their past couple of years incarnations. That's quite a departure from years back when we all used to follow those NickN, etc. guides literally tweaking Windows page file settings to try to squeeze .25 of a FPS out, lol.

Yes I will be great no tweaking if it runs word not allowed on your PC so be it.😁

As soon as someone post a tweak and another person says it works great we will be off to the races....... It doesn't matter what MS says to the contrary. Its in our blood.

Yes!  Maybe, just maybe, we'll never have to use the "T" word again!

During the press event, it was mentioned on-the-fly tweaks will be possible in the sim.  The question is how extensive those tools will be...

True, but at least I won't be downloading gigs of Ortho just for one flight.

It's a computer game. There will always be the potential to tweak some config files and similar. It's one of the perks we need to be thankful for compared to consoles imho.

That being said, sure, this will probably be less needed than in ESP platform products

Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."

I also hope there won't be tweaking any more.

As I suggested in another thread I hope MSFS will automatically and dynamically adjust all settings on-the-fly so that a predefined framerate is always maintained with the best possible graphics in any situation.

Now that they revealed the details will automatically be adjusted dependent on the bandwidth, I am confident that a similar automatic and dynamic function will be available dependent on the CPU and GPU headroom.
