September 10, 200619 yr The two pre-releases of FSX have, in some cases, created a level of anxiety as problems and unfulfilled desires become evident. Issues are described with only a hope that they will be resolved. Since there will be no updates to the Beta, or the Demo, we are left with open questions that fester. Unanswered questions that raise doubts, and a feeling that some of the uncovered challenges (politically correct for problems) may not be dealt with.Dick near airport 5G8 regards, Dick near Pittsburgh, USA
September 10, 200619 yr Im worried that the costlines will look like this in release version. I think they will, but hope im wrong.
September 10, 200619 yr Dick, that is one very obtuse post. I am not quite sure what it is you are attempting to solicit from your fellow forum members; a demand for a patch to the demo/beta? An acknowledgement from one of the team members that all issues will be fixed, or what?"created a level of anxiety"...Anxiety? Over a simulator / game (depending upon your point of view)?
September 10, 200619 yr I'm not too worried. That's what FS Genesis is for. For a few dollars, you have, quite liteally in the Galaxy Memberships, a lifetime of great terrain mesh replacements for the less-than-ideal areas in Flight Simulator's world.Regards,http://www.my-buddy-icon.com/Icons/objects/red_3d_plane.gifAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD PowerSpec G426 PC running Windows 11 Pro 64-bit OS, Intel Core i7 11700K @ 3.60GHz 30 °C, 4089MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 , ASUS TUF Z590-Plus Gaming motherboard, Samsung 870 EVO 2TB SSD, Samsung 750 EVO 500GB SSD, Acer Predator X34 34" curved monitor (external view), RealSim Gear G-1000 avionics suite, RealSim Gear GNS 450, Slavix Stay Level Custom Metal Panel, Honeycomb Alpha Yoke, Redbird Alloy THI, Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals.
September 10, 200619 yr I'm still waiting to see a picture of an overcast layer from above and below but my guess is nothing has been improved. I for one haven't been impressed at all with this pre-release from the screenshots I've seen. I doubt much else will be done with it since it is due for release soon.
September 10, 200619 yr I think what we see in the beta is about what we'll see in the final release. As always, framerates are going to be the major issue and the ACES team as already acknowledged that there isn't going to be much of an improvement in final version. All the eggs are now in the DX10 basket. September 10, 200619 yr Dear Anxiety,Since I don't know your age, it is difficult to understand what mental level of development you are presently at, however; Being that I just turned 60, and have been simming since FS4, I'll relate to you MY level of Anxiety of the much awaited FSX.Up until the new dual core systems came out, I had a high end computer, 3.4 overclocked to 3.8, ATI 9800 pro, overclocked -- all the other necessary bells and whistles which are pretty much standard fare for a fast FS operation. Not all sliders were full right, but the majority of them, those which really count . . . and I have tons of add ons in aircraft, scenery, and on, and on and on . . . . I keep my framerate at unlimited and I don't see it drop much below 30 unless I fly the dreaded NYC corridor, which also has the Manhatten scenery . . . then it becomes a real slug fest.My anxiety for FSX is this: When they release it, I will get around to buying it. the first week I will install it on a different HD, see all the new features, what what a slide show it is, rave about the new, wonderful features, and #### about the slow framerates.THEN I WILL FORGET ABOUT IT FOR A GOOD MONTH OR SO and go back and fly FS9. A month later, or two, perhaps three, a group of much more dedicated simmers than myself, will have figured out all the in's and out's of FSX, and how to modify it so that it will perform somewhat properly on my present system.I would imagine about six months down the road, with several add ons installed and much tweeking, I will finally get around to flying FSX more than I do FS9. At that time, I will move FS9 to a spare HD and make FSX a home on my usual HD. And on the story will go, eventualy buying new hardware to run the new software, when everyone else has figured out what hardware really makes it sizzle and run well.Level of Anxiety through all of that? 2 out of a possible 10. If FSX never came, I still have FS9 which is a darn site better than 2002, and has kept me happy over the past few years. Let's not forget that FS in what ever edition it is, is only a computer simulation and NOT real life . . . Anxiety should not be equated with something enjoyable to make you relax and pass the time.Just my 'old man' .04 cents worth.Best to all Clayhttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...ers/Dopke01.jpgClayton T. Now some are worried about pre-FSX release anxiety? LOL. Don't buy or buy it and keep both on your computer. Whoa..... I need a drink. LOLBob... :)>> Bob Prince

September 10, 200619 yr Tom,First, being too direct refreshes the people with short fuses. I was, as pointed out by one personal attack message, just making a commentary of a possible affect of releasing something with problems that may, or may not carry over to the final. If there was no anxiety many of the FSX posts strongly decrying the problems would not have occurred. The posters would have mildly commented and awaited the final version with confidence in a repaired program. That did not appear to be the result in all cases. The commentary was indirectly designed to raise a question. Does Microsoft believe that they used the correct strategy with the release of the programs with known problems despite the warning of pre-production beta status? Did enough virulent posters ignore the disclaimer to raise Microsoft's concern about using the pre-release approach the next time? In other words, was the cost of the Beta/Demo releases worthwhile?I was not looking for some line-by-line promise that all will be well in the final release. Yes, I will be an early adopter of the FSX final. Will problems surface? Yes, but there will be addons, workarounds, tolerance by the users or fixes by Microsoft. I that the anticipate the final version to be an excellent product that will allow me to erase FS2004/FS9 and push my little 2ghz PC to its limits. I hope that this clarifies my intent. Now I will "duck and cover".Dick BoleyDelmont, PA 15626>Dick, that is one very obtuse post. September 10, 200619 yr I'm not waiting for anything.I'm enjoying FS9; that is the sim we have. And mine works pretty darn well....and it should with all the money I've put into it ;).....That said, I am tired of these FSX threads, about something/stuff that isn't even released yet in its final form.
September 10, 200619 yr I'm with Tom, if FSX creates anxiety for you, then maybe a trip to the doctor is in order, LOL. I am more "anxious" over job security, the economy and illegal immigration that what is going on with FS. ;-)Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/ambanner.jpg Best, Michael KDFW
