Making the aircraft feel like your own

Featured Replies

Hi all

Looking forward to the release date announcement in the next few weeks

Not sure if this has been asked before but would be great if we could have small details included. Such as being able to track total flight hours, engine hours, carry out routine maintenance, maybe have a garage we could customise bolt on mods like wheel fairings etc. Basically just like a2a p3d with the maintenance hanger. Having a persistent aircraft is key to this immersion too. Obviously applies more to light aircraft rather than the jets etc.

It was the pic of the Cessna sat on the grass from speedwoblz that got me wanting. Never been so hyped for a release.

Hope you are all doing as well as can be

I would like to see this as well.  And the chance of a part failing increasing based on its age.  And I see no reason it couldn't apply to the big jets as well.

Games often do this as microtransactions.  How would you feel if they charged to customize the look of your plane?   (I am not picking sides, just asking.)

My brother has Coronavirus, confirmed by testing. On 3/26 he almost didn't survive the night.  He had extreme trouble breathing and was given a steroid inhaler.  He was very weak, had nausea, and other issues that aren't pleasant.  As of this update he is feeling much better, and seems he will be fine.  Stay safe out there.  (Updated 4/6)

Like in American Truck Sim?

Honestly I'd love that as a way to keep supporting and funding the sim's development.  it works wonderfully for SCS Software in the truck sims, and it could do the same here for Microsoft.

I like the repainting planes idea. On top of providing a few stock paints, have an in game plane paint editor tool for both user and AI planes. Who knows, hopefully this could already be in the works. In this day in age, it should be a no brainier.

You mean something like this?  My still reigning Stanley Cup Champions - St. Louis Blues livery Hondajet?  Doing this stuff is fun.  I previously had a HondaJet NFL Baltimore Raven's livery after their 2012 Super Bowl victory.

I was able to do this repaint in Photoshop by merely replacing colors on an previously existing livery.  That would seem to be a simple approach to provide in a sim with a defined set of colors to pick from.  Sort of a paint-by-numbers feature.

They have a “save the date” announcement in for late April on the development roadmap

i am assuming this is the release date announcement

I hope they have tail number customization like in the previous sims.

That would make sense with the multi player they have included.

Judging the gaming market right now, I see a big chance there will be customization options. The flight sim genre offers a variety of ways to do so. From purely cosmetic to technical improvements.

I guess this will be a part of the marketplace strategy. For example, in other games they sell skins for weapons or characters for 100s of $.

People who are willing to invest, are financing the sim, so no paid subscription is needed for the streaming service. The incredible scenery on the other hand attracts new customers.

Happy with MSFS 🙂
home simming evolved

In addition to a persistent aircraft with parts that age and a body that gets dirty and needs a bath every once in a while, I would love to see an in game aircraft repainter that includes a way to add your gamertag maybe on the tail or somewhere on the aircraft.

If I cant develop clouds and skies, Im gonna need to paint something. 🙂

Maybe on the outside where the seat is, like they do on military jets?  Captain Gamertag.

I'm suddenly picturing a Pitts or a Waco biplane with my name in small cursive yellow on red or red on yellow near the front seat under the wing.

More likely that it's related to a beta start date IMHO.

Give people power to really test their personality.
