Why Does It Look So Bad? - P3D V5

Recommended Posts

Hello all! I have P3D V5 installed with ORBX Global Base Pack but the land looks TERRIBLE over the Bahamas. I have done a few flights in other areas and it just looks terrible. Is that normal?

I can see why you have the afterburner on. If I was flying over scenery that looked that bad, I would want to get out of there as fast as possible!

Anyone tried UTX with v5 yet? In v4.5 it made the Caribbean look at least ok.

It seems to work following this advice:

Agreed.  Now, go and check out the wavy roads and inconsistency around KFLL.

Those visuals, plus the fact that VR does not work correctly, caused me to go for a refund.  It looks a mess.

Because you need Vector, which of course will never come as Orbx in their infinite wisdom along with seasons declared that it wasn’t needed anymore.

Yep as there is no proper vector data.  Orbx is not updating current vector product for V5.  If you see all the global products - on some it says openlc or global textures required.  No more vector.requirement.

Pilot used to provide support for Vector (then some drama happened between them - I am assuming with high probability - and I could be way off with assumption)

I wish Orbx will make Vector 2 with their own tech and in house - that way no one has to worry about third party drama that consumer faces.

I have stopped using vector too as it kills the highway lights (they don't pop up on all major roads - weird bug - Orbx knows about it).

Anyone else thinking, this all gets fixed when MSFS releases later this year?

I’d asked in another thread if it’s really the case that Vector is no longer needed in v5, as Orbx was claiming. Guess I finally got my answer!

That’s settled it for me. I’ll wait for MSFS.

Just use UTX - it works just fine. Follow the install method in the post linked earlier.

Dunno.  I have Orbx Base Pack and openLC NA - no Vector in v5, as others have noted, and my "Bahamas" looks like this:  https://ibb.co/Fnjp5Nw

OP's altitude looks like around 10K ft, and mine's lower - about 2K.  But still looks OK to me.

It might be possible to manually add ORBX Vectors from v4 to v5 via scenery library. I think that data like vectors should work in v5.

If you still have vector on your pc : just point to the folders with AO for V5.

That’s it ..

And the tool will also work

The default vector data in P3d5 is better than what's in FSX and P3d4, but it's nowhere near as accurate worldwide as FTX Vector.

MSFS vector data is basically very simple and cross compatible. Theoretically, FSX (or even FS2004) vector data should work in P3D v5.
