They note that all of their products (Envshade, Envtex and Envsound) work in v5, but there are further updates coming for Envtex to restore the full feature set in v5.

Anybody tried it? How is it? Envshade v5

Edited by rob0203

Looks great! I only add envshade and envsound.

How is EnvShade compared to Environment Force?

I must say, I allways used Envshade and Environment Force in 4.5. But now in v5 on my setup my sim looks great already without a shader over a shader over a shader program. Does anybody else test Envshade?

I'll do some before/after shots later today to try it out. Probably will leave Envtex out for now, just test Envshade.

The sun, shadows, glare, reflections, transitions .....
FPS drop 20%
Much work remains to be done.

Well that was a fail. After installing into my brand new OS and P3D5 install, I got a DXGI error + CTD upon loading any scenario with either performance or quality shaders applied.  Uninstalled, restored the backup and deleted shaders and back to working again.

May be related to the AMD RX5XXX driver compatibility problem LM is working on with AMD.

Anyhow, can't show before and after pics.

Ok, will leave this one out for now!

As usual, 1 persons experience of a product won't match anothers!  I have installed envshade and found negligible performance hit (HDR is on in my case and fps max is 30fps which hasn't dipped with addition of envshade) I have been having CTDs with v5 before envshade but with tdrlevel=0 tip and not using traffic injection, I am cruising along in a PMDG 748 for the last 2 hours without any problem... yet!

It's well said. Same here. Just an example, I spend a whole evening on IVAO with Prepar3D v5 without crashing (flying around several small airports for toucha and go's with dozen of trafics) after this EnvShade/EnvTex update. Not to mention TrackIR, FSrealWX for real weather injection, iPad connected with Foreflight...). I untick TrueSky (Atmospheric Beta) to regain my cloud shadows.

But most important, I enjoyed the smoothness. Very much.

Obviously, like several simmers here, I will continue to move slightly some sliders and see impact and stability. And wait for the hotfix next week.

Yes, I enjoy smoothness and visuals also! It is a great sim. Only sometimes have had this weird crashes on approach. Yesterday my plane just fell out of the sky and before it crashed into a invisible wall both on approach. Let’s hope the HF will solve a lot of issues.

If you have your frames locked at 30fps, you have not collected usable data to negate the previous poster's comments of a 20% drop in performance!

If you wish to critique his comment, unlock your frames and compare before and after with Envshade.

People like my self with low old CPU hardware(i7-4770k,1080TI FTW3) isnt it an advantage to tick the Truesky on for CPU to GPU tasks ?

I installed it and honestly I'll probably stick with the default v5 shaders. ENVSHADE was a must in v4 but I didn't notice a drastic difference in v5 and I feel like it looks great as is. I can post some before/after comparison shots later this evening.
