P3D v5 HF1 is using more VRAM than before

I found that even after uninstalling P3DV5 using the Windows Control Panel “Add Remove Programs” app, uninstalling Scenery, Content, Client and Prepar3D itself (in that order), and rebooting the computer, it still leaves a lot of the original files behind.

I found that all the P3D config flies, shader cache, scenery indexes, simobjects folder etc were still present in various locations. The main Prepar3D V5 folder was still present.

I just went through and manually deleted all folders marked “Lockheed Martin” in Program Files, Program Data, Appdata/Local and Appdata/Roaming etc.

I wonder if these left-behind files from the initial installation are responsible for some of the issues some people are having after installing the hot fix? I would think the new installer would overwrite any old files, but since the uninstaller did not take them out, I can’t be sure of that.

After manually removing leftover files and folders, my system is now as “clean” as I can make it of any traces of the RTM version. Currently downloading the new installer for the complete system. Will see what happens...

Thats what i did and on my system after fresh install, Its butter! Keep in mind though. All i have installed is the usuall Orbx bla bla with So.Cal, North Cal. bla bla. A2A aircraft, RXP and 1 Carenado "TBM". But as of right now, Could not be happier. Sliders are pretty hard core.

Install went fine with no issues. Using about the same VRAM use as before with the same settings, but I never came close to limit in the RTM version. I have been holding off on installing any payware airports until this HF, but will do so now.

FSW Lear and Falcon working well, and re-enabling Orbx textures and land class was no problem.

Strange, not sure why my VRAM usage is much higher in HF1 vs RTM with the sliders being the same then. I get a lot of device hung and out of memory errors now. I will try deleting my shaders to see if that will fix it.

For those of you who are not seeing this problem, did you perform a clean install or did you just update?

What I did was uninstalled client, content, and scenery, and installed the new client, content and scenery. Not sure if this has anything to do with it.

Did you also delete the P3Dv5 folders in your Appdata\Roaming and ProgramData before reinstalling?

This is what I did, with the client first. Uninstalled and reinstalled one at a time.  No change in memory usage.

What is your definition of "hardcore"? What is your max texture resolution setting? And if you say anything higher than 1024 with autogen sliders slammed to right with your 8GB card, you're being dishonest. Sorry, but I would know, because we have virtually the same card.

Hmmmm, My statement says "pretty Hardcore" And your changing my wording to "Hardcore" Do you normally do that. If i had every slider to the right in autogen that would be "Hardcore". I have everything "Maxed" Ultra if you will. with the exception of the auto gen which my sliders are all in the 3/4 of max. I stand by comment. I have it set "Pretty Hardcore" and it runs fantastic!  Not to your misleading "Hardcore" statement.

Appreciate your input though. If your going to quote somebody,  >>Please be accurate<<.
